Chapter Thirty Seven
Claire’s POV-
We got up late the next morning, awakened by the slits of sunlight coming through the blinds. I looked around at first, not quite comprehending what was happening. My eyes finally landed on Cody’s sleeping face. He looked content and peaceful. I climbed on top of him, making sure not to stir too much. After settling myself there, I kissed along his jaw bone, trailing all the way up to his lips. When I reached his lips, he slowly smiled, then kissed me back.
“You need to do this more often.” He said in his raspy, sleepy voice. It got my heart racing every time. I didn’t say anything back, simply because it would have ruined the moment. I just kissed him again. He ran his hands down over my curves, landing on my backside, squeezing gently. For the first time ever, I didn’t jump and gasp. I just smiled and continued to move my mouth in sync with his, letting my hands wander through his hair, tugging gently around his nape. He ever so slightly ground his hips into mine, causing me to gasp in response. He took my vulnerable state as an opportunity to flip us over. I smirked at his unfair play. He grinned back, then started to kiss my shoulder to my collar bone then up to my neck, lingering on the spot where he had bitten me the night before. Tingles shots through my body when he did so. I ran my hands through his hair then put them on his shoulder blades. When I made sure that he was preoccupied, I ran my nails all the way down his back, making sure to leave a mark. He moaned as a response, grinding his hips into mine. I smirked at the payback I just gave, knowing that he would be hearing the likes of that later. “You need to be careful doing that.” He whispered lowly into my ear. Goose bumps formed at the thought of what that might cause.
I decided to mess with him a little bit. “And why is that?” I said, arching my back off the bed, causing my hips to grind ever so gently into his.
“Claire.” He groaned, trying to get a grip on his…emotions. I giggled lightly at the state he was in. He smirked and continued to kiss my ear, moving down to my chest where he took my arrow necklace between his teeth, pulling playfully at it. I laughed and he returned it in a cheeky grin.
I looked back up at him, memories of last night registering in my mind. I felt embarrassed all the sudden, doubt and fear flooding my mind. What if I was terrible at it? Or if I did it wrong?
He looked puzzled at my sudden fear-stricken face, but then figured out why I looked so afraid. He kissed the spot just below my ear. “You’re incredible in bed, by the way,” He whispered lowly then kissing my ear.
I blushed, not being able to bring myself to meet his eyes. He lifted my chin up anyway, smiling at my embarrassed reaction. “For real.” He said earnestly. I smiled timidly at him.
Much to my disappointment, he got up and pulled a t-shirt on then left me in his room so that I could dress privately. I pulled my underwear on, trying to find where Cody had thrown my shirt last night. I found Cody’s t-shirt in the process. I didn’t feel like looking around plus his shirt smelled like heaven, so I just put it on instead.
I ran my hand through my hair as I walked down the hall and into the kitchen. Cody was just starting to put the coffee on. I did as I usually do, walking up behind him and putting my arms around his waist, burying my head into his back. He chuckled then turned around. He picked me up gently and sat me on the counter, standing between my legs. The insides of my thighs hurt as a result of last night’s activities. I winced as he attempted to part my legs so that he could get closer.
