Chapter Seventeen
Claire’s POV-
Cody pulled up to the apartment building. It was still pouring rain, so he jumped out and ran to the other side, opening the door for me. We ran under the cover of the building, shivering under our heavy coats. He took my hand and led me to his apartment. I didn’t jump that time. Thank. God.
He unlocked the door then let me go in first. I observed the apartment as he locked the door back and took my coat off, hanging it on the rack by the door.
His apartment was about the size of mine. It had a more open feel to it. The kitchen and living room were joined together, giving the place a more welcoming atmosphere. The room contained modern-looking furniture. On the other end of the living room was a book shelf that contained books and movies of all sorts.
Without thinking, I walked gingerly over to them, examining their different titles. He had everything from Twilight to Les’ Miserables. He also had movies like The Breakfast Club, Paranormal Activity, and even The Notebook. Wow.
As I was examining his collection, I hadn’t even noticed that he was standing behind me. When I turned around, I jumped for the thousandth time that day. He chuckled.
“Sorry.” I said shyly. “I just didn’t realize that you read so much.”
“Well, it can get kinda lonely around here.” He winked.
I laughed.
“So, I’m thinking that you can get a shower,” He led me into the kitchen as he spoke, “while I make this.” He said as he held up a box of mac and cheese. He knew it was my favorite.
Before I could reply, he continued, “Then, we can have this.” He smiled a triumphant smile as he held up a huge bag of coffee.
“You’re amazing.” I said. That’s all I was able to get out. He knew me so well.
“I know.” He said jokingly as he gave me a quick peck on the cheek and led me down a short hallway. He then opened the first door we came to.
“And this is my room.” He said timidly. He was so cute when he was embarrassed.
I left him standing in the doorway as I explored the room. It was very tidy and organized, almost like he had been expecting company or something.
A playful grin crept onto my face. I turned around and watched as he looked down at his shoes. “Were you planning on me saying that I wanted to come to your apartment? Or is the perfect choice of food and tidy room just a coincidence?”
