Chapter Thirteen

Cody’s POV-

She was hiding something. I could tell. It bothered me that she wouldn’t tell me what was really wrong. I don’t blame her since we haven’t been dating for very long. It makes sense. But something about the fact that she wouldn’t open up to me just bugs me.

I wish that I knew why I felt such a strong attraction for her. But ever since I saw her standing in the CD Shop that day, I wanted to be with her. I just want her to be mine, and just mine.

*FLASHBACK*

The Shops were busy with people and the weather that day was pleasant. I enjoyed coming here because of the atmosphere and the style of the area. I hadn’t been to the CD Shop in a while. They usually didn’t get a bunch of new stuff in, but when they did it was the best artists. I thought I would go there since I had nothing better to do.

It wasn’t all that busy, much to my appreciation. I didn’t mind big crowds, they just weren’t my favorite. I walked in and my eyes instantly fell on a beautiful, brown-haired girl that was standing behind the counter. She looked content, yet, sad. Very sad. Still, she was absolutely breath-taking. If love at first sight existed, then this was definitely it. She looked up and smiled faintly at me. I walked over and leaned on the counter. “Got anything new?” I asked casually, shooting her a grin.

She blushed slightly. She was adorable when she was embarrassed. “Uh, yeah, actually. There’s a ‘What’s New’ section over there. They just got a great collection of some more alternative sounding stuff…ya know, if you’re into that.” She smiled shyly.

“Thanks.” I said, walking over to the display.

She watched me walk over there. “You aren’t into that kind of music, are you?” she asked.

“No, not at all.” I said, laughing.

She chuckled. I’m sorry, that’s really the only thing that we got in.”

“Oh, it’s okay. To be quite honest, I only have about two dollars. I just came to look around.” I said.

She laughed.

“Well, I guess I’ll see ya around.” I said grinning at her as I walked out the door.

She smiled a little. “Sounds good to me.” She barely whispered.

*END OF FLASHBACK*

At this point, she was staring intently at me.

                I laughed. “What?”

“You just looked deep in thought. You okay?” She asked as we pulled into the parking lot at my favorite restaurant. Hopefully she would like it too.

“I am great.” I said as I pecked her on the cheek.

I ran around the front of the car and opened the door for her. She smiled as I helped her out. I grabbed her hand as we started walking toward the entrance of the restaurant; she flinched just like the other night.

Her face blushed a deep shade of red. “I really need to stop doing that.” She mumbled.

I laughed. “I think it’s adorable.” I said. She blushed even more.

We took our seat and ordered our food. She ordered a suspiciously small amount of food. She must have picked up on my suspicion. “Cody, it’s okay. I just don’t eat a lot.” She said, smiling faintly.

                “You sure?” I asked.

“Very.” She said smiling as our food came.

Dinner went good. We talked about light things like favorite music and pet peeves.

Claire is an extremely caring person. She hates it when people don’t get along. She loves most music, except for the heavy metal stuff. She loves movies and music, but doesn’t like to stay inside for long periods of time. She enjoys being outside. She’s very laid back and would usually choose a night in with movies and blankets over going out to a club. I thought that was great. We were alike in many ways. I loved everything about her.

She went to the restroom as I paid for the meal. She met me outside and we held hands as we walked to the car. “So where are we going now?” She asked.

“That’s a surprise.” I said, winking, as I helped her into the car. I then walked to the driver’s side and got in.

“You know, I really don’t like surprises.” She teased as we started moving.

“Well, that’s…unfortunate.” I said smirking. I was a huge flirt and wasn’t ashamed of it.

She laughed a little. Man, she had an adorable laugh. The only problem is that I didn’t hear it enough. But I was determined to make that different.

After a few minutes of driving, she was getting antsy. “will you at least give me a hint?” She asked.

“Well, I don’t have to because we’re here.” I smiled as I got out of the car.
