"Tell me now." Mandarin growled, and Thistle barely stifled a gasp of shock when her eyes turned black with flames. "My-my father," he stammered, and Mandarins scales turned the deepest red he'd ever seen, deeper than cliff deeper than any skywing he'd ever met.

"You little moon-cursed crocodile spawn!" she hissed violently and smacked him across the face.

Thistle rolled underneath her and tried to kick her from behind. But Mandarin was too fast. As he slipped beneath, she brought her body down, banging him to the floor. To think that she taught me EVERYthing she knew, Thistle thought as he let himself go limp.

Mandarin seemed to know what he was planning. She leapt at him so fast that it was a blur.

He forgot all about not hurting her, suddenly lashing out his barb, scraping it across her chest. Mandarin froze, and looked at him with hate in her eyes. "Your... moon-cursed... father..." she said weakly, "Is the reason my mother is dead," she dropped to the floor, breathing heavily.

No, no, no, no...

"Mandarin!"

This is all my fault...

Dusky awoke to yells and cries of help echoing the halls as he jolted out of his silk web. Cedar was already awake, and another yell pierced the air. "What was that?!" Dusky whispered, and Cedar shrugged with wide eyes. Dusky looked over at Thistle, only to find he wasn't there.

"He must have already gone to check it out," Cedar said, and rushed out of the room, Dusky close behind. The yells where echoing louder and more students were rushing out of their caves to see what was going on.

"Dusky?!" He turned to see Bumblebee looking at him with fear in her eyes. "What's going on?!" Suddenly Thistle was rushing towards the Dragonets' headquarters. "Thistle?!" Bumblebee panicked, "where's Mandarin?" Thistle didn't answer, and kept running.

Dusky and the others went to run after him but Cliff stood in their way, looking worried. "Mandarin has been hurt." he said carefully, and Auklet gasped behind them, "What?" she cried, and Bumblebee put a wing over her in comfort.

Cliff nodded. "There's a slash against her chest, and it's not deep, so I think a sandwing did this," Cliff mused. Dusky was horrified. His antennae twitched, and Tsunami and Clay came rushing down the hallway as fast as lightning.

The firefly globes that were once dimmed were now alight, brightening up the room in seconds.

"Mandarins been hurt, and she's the strongest dragon I know." Cliff fretted, "Something or someone must have made her so mad or sad that she lost control."

Dusky stiffened. Mandarin is hurt, and it looks like she'd been attacked.
