Chapter 13: Point of no return

Three days of sailing have gone by

Dragon island volcano, central chamber

AlfTaho:"Your majesty, scouts have reported viking ships approaching. They seem to have forced Tene'Car to guide them here. On the other hand, Mah'Lok had recruited two new dragons: a dimwitted Snaptrapper and a Changewing the vikings call Bonewrecker. What shall we do about the vikings, your grace?"

TBT:"Let them approach. If destruction is what they seek, they shall find it!"

Berk, Hooligan village

Hiccup was walking through the marketplace. With how many vikings went with Stoick, the village seemed almost scarily quiet. He learned that Ruffnut's mother actually heard her daughter out, and tried to convince his father to not go in fear of the colossal beast, but he wouldn't listen. At least his father is consistent, thought Hiccup. He also hadn't seen Astrid since the day of the final trial. Noone had seen her leave the house, though most people heard her father's berating through the walls. Given how much family and honor mean to Astrid, Hiccup wouldn't be surprised if she was crying in her room even three days later, and he didn't want to disturb her. Though he wanted to be there for her and help her, he knew she needed time to deal with this. He was handling the same thing much better, probably because he was sort of expecting it as an unlikely but possible outcome of his reveal. He was torn out of his thoughts by a familiar voice.

Snotlout:"HICCUP!"

Hiccup:"Oh, what now?"

Snotlout:"I was talking with the others, and they said you and Astrid saw some giant fucking dragon! Is that true?"

Hiccup:"Why, why would we lie about that? And what's gotten into you?"

Snotlout:"EVERYONE's gone to the nest! The entire Jorgensson clan except for the kids!"

Hiccup:"I tried to wa-"

Snotlout:"I don't give a fuck what you tried! Ulfhild is missing!"

Hiccup:"Wait, you don't think-"

Snotlout:"She snuck aboard the fleet? I wish I didn't!"

Hiccup:"Damn it! But what can we do? There's no way we can get to the island before them. I'm sorry Snotlout, I cared about her too, but-"

Snotlout:"Okay, that's it! Every single time, you have some weird, pull-something-out-of-your-ass idea, so either you come up with one now to get everyone back, or I'm gonna kick the shit out of you until you get one!"

Hiccup:"OKAY, let me think! How could we get there when they have a three days lead? They're gonna be going slowly, since only a- SINCE ONLY A DRAGON CAN FIND IT! They're gonna be going slow so they can keep up with Toothless' guidance. I've got an idea! Thanks Snotlout! Get the others and meet me at the arena!"

He ran off to the arena. Snotlout smirked and shrugged.

Snotlout:"Nothing like a violent threat to get him to think."

He ran off to gather the other trainees.

Berk, Hvaltan main house

Snotlout:"HEY, DOGSBREATH! Bring your ass to the arena, Hiccup's got a plan to save everybody!"

Dogsbreath:"Why the fuck are you screaming? I'm right here."

Snotlout turned around and saw Dogsbreath coming up behind him with a bucket of water.

Snotlout:"Oh."

Dogsbreath:"I'll just fill the trough for the yaks, then I'll go there."

Snotlout:"Great. See you there. Bring your gear just in case."
