He was huge. Much bigger and taller than Roberto. He resembled Roberto but was nothing like him. His personality was completely different from Roberto's. He was wearing a light green suit with a white shirt beneath. He, too, wore a ponytail knotted behind his neck, but he didn't wear any hats or gold. He was missing his left eye. Both brothers are missing at least one bodily part. It shows how scary their world is, and now I am a part of it. Also, both of them have a funny dressing sense.
I rose from my chair and offered my hand toward him. He looked at my hand and smirked. He then looked back at me, still smirking. My hand was still extended, waiting for him to shake. He eventually took his hand out of his pants pocket and shook it with mine.
"It's nice meeting you, Luis." I said.
"Of course. I am a treat." He said and laughed.
I didn't find that funny. So, I just pursed my lips and tried to smile. We both settled into the chair. I followed him as he scooped up his glass.
"Cheers." He said. We clinked our glasses and had a sip."So, Morreno. How's the business going?" He asked.
"Can't complain. Your deliveries are on time. I make sure of it." I said that and had another sip. The churning in my gut returned now that Luis was in front of me. In person, he was scarier than over the phone. I had to remain calm and convince him that I was his friend.
He raised his brows and said, "Yes, I am very impressed. That's why I called you here today. To have a drink with me." He continued to have an evil smile on his face.
"Really? Is that the only reason?" I asked.
He laughed lowly while looking me in the eye. "Well, of course there is another reason."
I nodded. "I figured." Luis's most terrifying characteristic is that he speaks while looking you in the eyes. I tried to maintain eye contact. I had to make him believe that he could trust me.
"You are astute, Morreno. And that's why you are here. Do you realize there isn't a single alliance worthy of sharing a drink with me in that chair? You're here today, right in front of me, in my house, drinking with me despite the fact that you murdered my brother."
I lowered my head and cleared my throat. It was hard to maintain eye contact when he was mentioning his brother, whom I killed mercilessly.
"Why that trust, Luis?" I asked without looking at him.
I heard him scoff. "You have kept your promise so far. You did an excellent job. Furthermore, you are not afraid of me. At least not as much as other people are. You are obeying me only because you care for the lives of those you love.
If you didn't have them in your life, you never would have been following my orders. My other alliances are doing my dirty work because they care for their own lives and want to be in my good graces for financial gain. They are doing well in their own business, but they still like the money that I give them. You, on the other hand, do not care about that money. I know you donate what I give you."
I looked at him in perplexity. I know it isn't hard for Luis to find out what I do in my personal life, but it still surprised me that he found out such discreet information. No one knows what I do with that money except Mr. Perez.
"You know about that?" I asked.
He shrugged his shoulders slightly. "It's not hard for me to find out anything, Morreno. But anyway, I was impressed. I am just curious to know why you do that. Don't you love money?" He sipped his scotch.
"I earn more than enough. I don't know where to keep the extra that I get. Plus, tinted money never brings happiness." I replied.
"Ouch!" He snickered as he spoke. "That hurt."
