I forced my eyes open. Everything was blurry before my eyes, and suddenly the realisation dawned on me. I just had sex with Sabil. Oh, my good God! My head was resting on his bare chest. I sat abruptly and got a head rush. Arman must have been going crazy worrying about me. I looked at Sabil. He was wide awake, and there was a beautiful smile on his face. The kind of smile that said how happy he was about what just happened between us.
"Hey gorgeous." He said it in a whisper.
"I can't believe I was sleeping next to you." I said without taking my eyes off his beautiful face.
"Me neither. I can't believe that just happened." He replied and pulled me back to lie beside him. He held me close to his chest and gave me a peck on the lips.
"We are not crazy, are we?" I asked.
"Maybe. I am not sure about you, but I am crazy about you, Saanj. I let you get so close to me, despite knowing the repercussions. I know what waits for you and me. But what can I do, Saanj? How do I stop myself when I am close to you?" Sabil's eyes pierced mine as he spoke.
I was drawn into his beautiful emerald eyes. I didn't speak for what seemed like several minutes. I was trying to make sense of whatever just happened between us and whatever he just said. Being with Sabil felt surreal. Like a dream that can easily turn into a nightmare that I've been having if I don't run away from him. But I wanted to stay. I was ready to face all the dangers that awaited me.
Being in Sabil's arms and staying with him were all that mattered. I smiled softly and got off the bed with the blanket covering my naked body. I picked up my phone from the side table and saw numerous missed calls from Arman and Rex. I bit my lower lip and pressed my eyes shut before dialling Arman's number. We were supposed to have dinner at seven, and it was nine thirty in the evening.
Arman answered in the first ring. "Saanj! Are you okay? Where are you? Has something happened to you?" He was sounding panicky.
"I am safe and sound, Arman. Calm down."
"What the fuck do you mean by that? Have you seen the time? Where the fuck have you been, you crazy woman?" Arman was furious, and I was shivering. I was going to get a lectur that I wasn't ready for.
"I am with Sabil." I said, squinting my eyes in fear because I knew a torrent of abuse was on its way.
"Have you gone insane, Saanj? You invited Rex and me for dinner, and you are with that moron?" He thundered.
"Watch your tongue, Arman." I've never spoken to Arman in this manner before. But hearing abuse about Sabil did not sit well with me. Is my relationship with Sabil going to cause me to drift away from Arman? No way; I'm not going to let that happen. No..no...
"I want you back in your room, right now. Rex is waiting inside; he is totally worried about you. He wanted to go to the police to file a missing report. But I stopped him. You have to be back right now." Arman was suddenly calm. I know he was as afraid of losing me as I was of losing him.
"Get him over the phone, please. Let me apologise to him." I looked behind me at Sabil while speaking. He was still lying in bed with his black shirt and shorts. He creased his eyebrows when I mentioned about a third person.
"I will tell him you are okay. How long will you take to get here?" Arman asked.
"I am just on the ninth floor. Give me fifteen minutes." I said, still looking at Sabil, whose eyebrows were still creased. Probably trying to make sense of my conversation.
"What? Is he here?"
"See you, Arman." I said and hung up.
I sat beside Sabil on the bed.
