We reluctantly broke our kiss. While my eyes were still closed, Sabil planted a soft kiss on my brow. I could feel his warm breath on my face as he said, "Well, you're going to need to redo your lipstick."
I opened my eyes and chuckled. I questioned myself again when I saw his divine face so close to me.
'Does anyone so handsome really exist? Is he really with someone like me? Someone so average, so below his standards, and so clumsy. Is this really happening or am I dreaming again?'
"Saanj?" Sabil called and jolted me out of my reverie. "We are getting late." He reminded me.
I nodded and quickly reapplied my lipstick. I walked out of the hotel room with Sabil's hand in mine. Sabil pulled the passenger door of his black Jaguar for me. I realised his men weren't around.
"Where is everyone?" I inquired as I got in the car.
Sabil closed the door behind me and walked to the driver's seat. "They are not needed tonight." He started the engine and gently steered the steering wheel in the direction of the exit.
"What if someone attacks?" I asked.
Sabil smirked and looked at me, saying, "Well, Luis has been missing for months. I know he is keeping his eyes on me, but he won't do the stupid thing of attacking me on the road. He is not Roberto."
"Well, okay. Where are we going, Sabil?" I couldn't hold back my excitement.
Sabil laughed softly. "You really have no patience, do you?"
"Not when it comes to surprises." I smiled.
Sabil pulled my cheek softly. He drove the whole road while holding my hand and asking about my mom and Anubhav. I told him Anubhav was married and how I terribly missed the bond we shared. I told him how amazing Esha was and that I miss mom every day. Sabil was a good listener. He kept rubbing my hand to reassure me that he was by my side.
"People have to move on at some point, Saanj. Especially when they are married. Your brother did nothing wrong. He found his soulmate, and he decided to spend most of the time with her instead of you. She is his life partner, and she deserves all his time. You cannot do anything about it." Sabil said as his gaze alternated between me and the road.
"I do get that, Sabil. I am not complaining. I was just very heartbroken when he decided to move out. I mean, I was already going through the trauma of separating from you. It took forever for me to move on. It only got easier when Mike came into my life, but he couldn't keep my mind off you for too long either. So, when Anubhav decided to leave me too, I just couldn't bear the pain. But then I moved on from that too. It's not that I don't understand that he has his life too; it's just that I didn't want to lose my best friend. Although Anubhav still loves me, he still treats me like a kid and takes care of my needs. Things have changed, but he makes sure to visit me at least once a month along with mom and Esha."
"I am so sorry, Saanj. I had no idea what I was doing to your heart. I never realised we'd get so close that I'd end up hurting you so bad." Sabil said this without looking at me.
"Weren't you hurt when I left?" I asked.
Sabil sighed. His eyes were still darting on the road, and his one hand was clasped with mine. He didn't answer my question.
"Well, it's okay. You don't have to answer that." I said this as I looked out the window. I didn't really need an answer to that. Sabil's actions had proven how much he liked me. He didn't need words to prove anything to me.
"You are everything to me, Saanj." Sabil spoke softly. His husky voice increased my heartbeat. My head snapped towards him. He was still looking out the windscreen. His face was solemn.
