~Videl~
When Videl woke up a few hours later on the couch, with Kane laying next to her, it felt like she was dreaming. A good dream. She blinked a few times, disbelieving. He was looking at her, staring into her eyes, deeply.
"Kane?"
Her voice was dry and raspy, but it was audible.
"Hey, princess," Kane murmured.
"Hey," Videl whispered hoarsely. She reached out and touched his face. He was really there. Then her memories slowly pieced back together. The dinner with Risa, her fit in the bedroom, the nightmares, the vomiting, Kane and Sienna taking care of her.
"I'm sorry I stood you up at the Gym," Videl's voice cracked, raking out of her lips. She sounded terrible like she had swallowed glass, but her throat didn't hurt anymore, and it was making sounds again, so it was fine. Kane's eyebrows shot up and he laughed.
"That's the first thing you want to say?"
Videl blushed, nodding meekly.
"You don't have to apologize, V." Kane said, sobering. "Really."
He tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear, his gaze roving over her face with an edge of worry.
"How are you feeling?" Kane asked, his words gentle and caring.
"Better," Videl mumbled shyly.
"How can I get you feeling great?" Kane joked, leaning closer to kiss her. Videl suddenly covered her mouth, stopping him, her eyes going wide.
"Wait!" Videl squeaked, scrambling up from the couch abruptly.
Kane's eyebrows furrowed as he sat up, confused.
"V?" He called out to her as she ran to her bathroom. She was hurrying to brush her teeth and use some mouthwash.
"Seriously?" Kane grinned, shaking his head at her from the doorway, seeing her brushing. He had come to see what she had run off for, and it obviously wasn't for a reason that he had expected.
Videl blushed again, feeling embarrassed to have him watching her swish and spit out the mouthwash. She wiped her mouth and smiled bashfully.
"I threw up this morning," Videl admitted. "I didn't want you to kiss me until I freshened up."
Kane rolled his eyes with a too-handsome smirk. "I kissed you earlier, remember?"
"Not with tongue!" Videl gasped, her eyes widening again.
He had kissed her earlier, before she had fallen asleep on the couch. He probably didn't know at the time that she had thrown up hours before though. Kane rose an eyebrow at her, a mischievous gleam in his silver eyes.
"What made you think you were going to get tongue?"
Videl turned absolutely crimson then, and Kane burst out laughing.
"I'm kidding, V." Kane admitted, as she walked past him out of the bathroom. "I wanted you to feel great, so you were probably going to get some tongue."
