Ricky's POV I wasn't going to live on campus. It's not worth it, already living in Salt Lake. I've made the decision to get my first apartment this year.
My mom has moved again, what a shock. She's now in Park City, just focusing on her career and family. Her relationship with my dad is good, and I don't think her and I have ever been better. She's less that forty minutes away now, and I'm trying to see her at least twice a month.
I got a job. Yes, I sure did. I got a job at the animal rescue that Gina and I got Elphie.
Gina's in her senior year of high school. Ashlyn, Maddox, Jet, Emmy, Seb, and Carlos are still there with her, and so is Jack who is really not sure if he'll be staying here the whole year with his dad's job and all.
All being his new...thing with Nini.
"Hey, I'm Ricky Bowen. Nice to meet you."
"Nice to meet you too. I'm Dakota." The kid shook his hand. "You free today? I'd like to get to know you a little bit. I think it's be good for us."
Dakota Freemen is another freshman going to Salt Lake City college, and he's working with me at the animal rescue. He is also my next door neighbor at my new apartment.
"Yeah, sure. That'd be great. My closest friend is busy working at his family's pizza shop. He always has been, but now he's also busy taking some accounting and business classes, so I'm a little out if it."
"Totally understandable. I get it. Let's go out after work? Maybe get a bite to eat?"
"Sounds good.

"So. You've got friends from high school still?"
"Oh yeah. My best friend, Big Red, is who I told you about earlier. Another friend, Kourtney, is studying at Lewis, and my friend EJ is a sophomore at Utah University. The rest of them are still in high school."
"Any girlfriends?" He wiggles his eyebrows.
"I have one ex, but now I'm with the most talented, beautiful, sweetest girl ever. I'm gonna marry her, I know it."
"Yeah? What's her name? How old is she?"
"She's still seventeen. I know, I know, don't judge. And her name's Gina. She's freaking perfect."
"Have a pic?"
"Oh yeah."
