Chapter 17: December (part 1)

Like I've said before, this book is going have more fast paced parts where we show little moments so we're able to see later parts in their lives. We're gonna start speeding up!

Ricky's POV
It's now December, which means it's show month. We're going on two years from the time Gina and her mom left and Nini and I got back together.

And it means soon, I'll get to see Into The Woods.

Gina's POV
"I really have to put this on!?"

"I get on winter break earlier now that I'm in college. Of course I was coming to help with costumes. And getting you the perfect sticky pregnant belly." Kourtney tells me.

I look at the belly she holds up for me, one I have to wear when my character finally gets pregnant in the musical.

I look at myself in the mirror, knowing I won't like the way I look. It's the same for me without being "pregnant". Somedays I feel beautiful and confident. Others, not so much.

"I'll give you a couple minutes alone. Then we've gotta get this thing on." Kourtney walks out.

I turn to the side in the mirror, a hand on my stomach. "Ugh."

"Kourt!"

"Yeah?" She pops her head back in.

"Can you get Miss Jenn?" I ask, looking down, my voice cracking.

"Gi? What's going on?" Kourtney asks.

"Just get her please!"

"Okay. Okay, I'm going."

I slide onto the couch that Miss Jenn now permanently has in this dressing room from last year.

"Gina? What's going on?" Miss Jenn rushes over.

I open my arms to her, feeling my boy immediately encased in her arms.

"What's wrong?"

"Miss Jenn, the entertainment industry's destroying me. All the comments, everything I see. People think I have the perfect body or that I love it because I wear sports bras when I dance. I hate it! I hate it." I cry.

"Gina...oh, Honey. I don't have anything to make it better. Sweetie, you're beautiful, but I know that can't cure you or your insecurities. Could I call Ricky? Maybe he could-"

"No! No, don't call him. I can't let him know how I feel. He's going to go all protective, helicopter boyfriend on me. Now let's put this pregnancy belly on me."

Ricky's POV
It's a Friday in December, so of course I'm picking up Gina from rehearsal and going into get a sneak peak of the show.

I walk in, and have to quickly do a quadruple take, noticing Gina with a...pregnancy belly under her clothes as she acts.

"Hey...didn't think you'd see me like this..." Gina says, putting a hand on her stomach.

"I would've at some point." I shrug cheerfully.

"Ricky..."

I lean in, whispering in her ear. "For the record, you look pretty cute pregnant."

"Oh, God." She chuckles, walking to get changed. "Rick?" She asks, facing me.

"Yes, my love?"

"Do I look okay still?"

"You are gorgeous my love. And I think we're gonna need to have a talk about that later..."
