Chapter 13: Reporters Love Drama

Two chapters within 48 hours!? I used to have 10 in that time, but with what's going on now, that's pretty great. So yay, me!

Ricky's POV
It was about 4 PM on Friday when I began to wonder if Gina was still coming. I heard nothing about her coming later or being behind or not coming at all.

And then I saw Nini's car show up in the parking lot of my apartment building. And I saw my girlfriend in tears.

I gave Nini a quick embrace before thanking her for getting Gina here, and then I was pulling her inside.

"What's wrong, Baby?"

Gina walks to my room and crashes down on my bed. Then she just holds out her phone to me and begins to bawl.

"So...Ri the reporter is actually your cousin? Ri Porter?"

"Yep..."

"It is on brand..."

"Ricky...I'm tired."

"Get some sleep, Sweetie. I'm not going anywhere. You've got time."

My poor girl...

Gina's POV
I wake up what feels like a decade later. I don't let Ricky know I've waken up.

I think he might be worried about me.

I open my phone and do a little research on Ri Porter just to make sure it's safe to write back to her, and she really is my cousin.

She is.

G: Hey, Ri. Sorry, I needed a little time to process everything that's happened. I'd be really happy to get to know you better if that's what you're also looking for.

That's when Ricky walks in.

"Hey, Bubby. I've got some soup on the stove. You feeling better?"

"Yeah. Yeah, I'm good."

He smiles and nods, kissing my forehead, and exiting the room once more.

"I'm gonna put a movie on," he shouts, "come out when you're ready."

I feel my phone buzz, and read my response.

R: Hey, Gina. I'm glad you responded, and I totally understand you needed a few hours.

G: Thank you. I'm so glad you get it. Ri?

R: Yeah?

G: Do you know anything...

G: like about my dad?

R: I think it'd be best if we called to talk sometime.

I see the three dots appear on the screen, signaling that she's adding more.

R: But yeah. I do.
