                              ADELINE

My bed felt oddly more comfortable than usual but I definitely wasn't complaining. A small moan of content brushed past my lips as I instinctively moved closer to the warmth. I moved my leg so it wrapped around a pillow, causing my shirt to rise up. The whole lower half of my body was now completely bare and the sudden feeling of cold air hit me. I moved even closer to the warmth as my hand began searching for the blanket. When I felt a hard chest instead, I instantly froze.

Memories flooded back into my head from last night. I was not in my bed. I was in Braxton's. And my leg was definitely not on a pillow, it was flung over his hips. I pulled away quickly and covered the lower half of my body with the blanket. The sudden movement caused his eyes to flutter open.

"Sorry" I mumbled out. I could feel my cheeks warm with embarrassment.

"Don't be" he responded still half asleep.

He rubbed his eyes with a slight exhale. I let my eyes roam over his bare chest. It was actually annoying how much I was attracted to him. I watched as he stretched his arms up as he yawned. Finally after placing one arm behind his head and the other lazily on his stomach his eyes connected with mine.

"How'd you sleep?"

"Fine." I responded. It was actually the best sleep I'd ever gotten but I didn't feel like giving him the satisfaction of knowing that. I had fallen asleep on the complete opposite side of the bed from him, but I guess sometime during the night we both ended up in the middle.

"Well I slept great thank you for asking Adeline." I could hear the sarcasm in his voice causing me to scoff.

"I'm so glad to hear that Braxton." I matched his tone. A light chuckle rumbled from his chest and I couldn't stop the smile that spread on my lips.

"Are you hungry?" he asked with a matching smile on his lips.

"A little" I responded.

"Okay I'll go make something." I watched as he then pushed the blanket off the lower half of his body and hopped out the bed. He made his way over the bedroom door and then disappeared into the hallway. I was slightly taken aback, I've never had a man make anything for me besides my father.

I lightly rubbed my eyes, fully waking myself up and then headed into the bathroom. I quickly used the toilet and then finger combed through my hair as best as I could. Then I made my way out to the kitchen.

Braxton was standing in front of the stove and I could smell the eggs and bacon that he was making. I leaned against the island and folded my arms over chest. Despite how nice this all was, I couldn't help but feel like it would be short lived. I needed to go back to my house and get Ember and then leave. Axel knew where I was and I knew he'd be coming back for me.

"I need to go home."

"This is your home now." he said it so casually and didn't even turn around to look at me while speaking.

I took a deep breath trying to calm the anger that was rising within me. I knew we were mates, but right now I had bigger things to worry about than playing house with him.

"This is not my home. I need to go and get my cat and leave this town before-" the rest of my words were cut short. In an instant he had turned around and caged me in between his arms and the island. His eyes were golden and I could tell he was not happy.

"You're not going anywhere." he said in his alpha voice.

"It's actually hilarious to me that you think talking to me in that tone has any affect on me. I am not one of your wolves and if I want to leave I can. You don't own me and you can't keep me captive." I let my anger out with my words and I could hear my heart pounding in my ears as silence filled the air.
