Chapter 20

Author's POV

It's Saturday today. After Jimin ate breakfast, he grabbed his bag with him so he could leave immediately, but before he left, he grabbed Seulgi's diary with him, since she might need it the moment she wakes up as he urgently left the house, hopped in inside his car and drove away to go to the hospital immediately. The moment he arrived at the hospital, he was immediately greeted by SeokJin.

"Hi hyung!", Jimin said.
"Hey! Are you ok?", he asked him.
"Yeah! I'll stay over at the hospital to look after her.", Jimin said.
"I see! Now that you know that she's your childhood friend, please take care of her! She needs you the most right now.", he told him.
"I will hyung!", Jimin said.

A few seconds later, he finally arrived inside Seulgi's hospital room. Jimin immediately placed his things beside the couch, sat infront of her bedside as he held her hand gently.

"Where's her mom?", Jimin asked his mom, who worriedly approached him.
"She just went to arrange something.", she said.
"I see! Mom.. while I'm at work starting at Monday, please take care of her for me.", he told her.
"Don't worry, I will! It's also my sign of apology to her mom after what your uncle really did!", she said.

While they're talking, Jimin immediately stood up when Seulgi's mom, along with Joohyun and Seungwan, came inside the room as her mom slapped him.

"How dare you! Why did you do that to my daughter?! She didn't do anything bad to you!", she said as Joohyun and Seungwan held her to prevent her from hurting him further.
"Doc... I.. I'm sorry—", Jimin said as she cut him off.
"No! Your apology won't fix the fact that it'll take a long time for my daughter to wake up from coma!", she told him.
"Jimin, this will be the only time that I'll disobey Seulgi but.. even if she already knew the truth that you were her childhood friend, she did nothing but to continue respecting and loving you even if you're treating her badly!", Seungwan told him.
"Wh—What? She knew all this time? How come she didn't tell me?", Jimin said.
"You think you deserve to know the truth?! She was scared that if she told you the truth, you're just gonna continue to hurt her knowing that you have deep hatred towards her!", Joohyun said.

I guess their trust issues towards me are that deep! Jimin sadly thought to himself as he couldn't help but bow his head down in embarrassment.

"I'll allow you to look after my daughter but the moment she wakes up, I want you to stay away from her!", her mom told him.
"But—", Jimin said as he tried to explain, only for Seulgi's mom to cut him off.
"You think I'll trust you after everything you did to my daughter?! I know that you are her childhood friend, so you better prove me that you've changed!", she said.

Jimin's POV

It was a rough day for me, and I guess that starting from now, I'll just gladly accept her mom's growing resentment towards me. I immediately stood up from the couch as I sat infront of her bedside and gently held her hand. As I sat, I couldn't help but shed a tear as I looked at her bruises, the patches patched on her chest to check up her overall heart function, the dextrose attached on the back her right hand, the blue cast around her left arm, and the oxygen mask wrapped around her face.

"Seul.. I don't know if you can hear me but.. I'm really sorry! I'm really sorry for everything. I'm sorry if I just continued to vent out all of my anger to you instead of helping you find the real killer of your father. I know apologizing to you won't be enough, but the fact that I loved you will no longer change! Please keep on fighting for me! Do you remember your promise to me? That once I return, you will welcome me with a tight hug? I'm sorry that you couldn't fulfill that promise, knowing that we both reunited in the worst possible way! Please hold on! We still have a lot of things to do together, you're still going to save as many people and children as you can, and your patients still need you, so please never give up! The Seulgi that I know is a fighter and always stands up for what is right! Seulgi, this isn't you fighting, but this is you, giving up! So please, keep on fighting!", I whispered as I caressed her hand.
