Scarlett's POV
I lay awake, crying in the guest bedroom as it's now my turn to inhabit it. I confirmed my allegations of Colin cheating. It's his ex Rashida and she met him yesterday for coffee. I mean I guess it's not cheating but how do I know there wasn't more or this wasn't the first time. The flow of the texts were flirty and she kept calling him handsome and baby and he didn't correct her. I just can't stand to be near him right now. He begged me to not read into the texts too much and it was just coffee but he never even told me. It's just sketchy to me.

By the time morning came, I think I got an hours worth of sleep, but the show must go on. Rose has a play date today, and my mom is coming out to lunch with me and Cosmo. I wanted to pick up a new dress because Colin begged me to let him make it up to me at dinner tomorrow night. I'm going to hold him to it and if it's anything less than spectacular, I will unleash the beast on him.

Reluctantly I get up and shower in the guest bathroom. When I'm done I walk into my bedroom to see the bed made and no one in it. I get dressed and go wake up Rose. She excitedly gets up and ready for her playdate while I go downstairs and start breakfast, letting Cosmo sleep a little longer.

As I get downstairs andninto the kitchen I notice a note taped to the fridge. It's from Colin and says he went to work early so he could be home early. Also that he'd be home for dinner. Yeah, we'll see about that.

Katie POV
"Kathleen where in the world were you!? I was just about to call the police when your father showed me you were at the beach on his phone."

Since when did my dad track me? I gotta shut that off.

"I met a friend there to help her with a school project."

"You're graduated. Don't lie to me. You were kissing her weren't you." My mother snaps. She's clearly not very fond of any of my life choices.

"No mom. She's younger than me and needed help." I say looking at my dad wondering if Jack told him.

"Nancy, leave her alone. It was for Jacks daughter Melanie. He told me. Collecting seashells or something" my dad lies to my mother's face but since it's him telling her she seems to believe him.

"Whatever" she mumbles and walks into the backyard.

"Why does she hate me?" I sigh into my dad's chest.

He wraps me in a hug and ruffles my hair.

"She is just looking out for you. She loves you honey."

I just listen to my dad's words instead of answering him. The photo shoot went really well, after i told Melanie I wouldn't be interested in her and she can stop flirting with me. It was awkward and weird at first but after she was cool and i got some really awesome shots.

She's a really skilled surfer and makes it look effortlessly easy. I admired her calmness about it and the way she could spot a good or bad wave from way out in the horizon. She loved the photos I showed her from the camera and I know once I edit them more it'll look really great. She said she wanted to buy 2 or 3 definitely so I'm pretty pumped about that.

The rest of the day rolls through and before I know it, it's 8pm and I haven't eaten all day. I'm also really tired but that's what getting 3 hours of sleep and getting up early does to you. I decide to make a pb&j and grab a glass bottled Yoo-Hoo and sit on the back deck to eat.

Being rich has its advantages. One being, a beautiful house to live in thanks to my father. I have to say, he picked a nice one. The back yard is my favorite and I've always gravitated towards it, whether viewing it from the deck or upstairs balcony from being inside it.

If you looked past the pool it was full of greenery and an old wooden tree house from my childhood on the lone tree in the back of the property. The fences back here are taller than the front yard ones and even though they are somewhat narrow yards there's plenty space in between where you can be back there and not bother your neighbors if your just relaxing.
