19.

Scarlett POV
It's 3:30, I've just gotten home from picking up Rose at camp and am looking through my fridge to see what I can cook for dinner. I'm not sure what Katie wants but I know my kids are asking for chicken nuggets. So I make sure I'm stocked on that and figure I can talk to Katie when she gets here, since she just texted me that she's on her way to her house.

"Mommmm, I'm bored." Rose walks into the kitchen with a puss on her face.

If that's not the motto for kids nowadays I don't know what would be.

"Want to go outside?" I ask and she shrugs her shoulders.

"Can we go swimming?" She asks and although we don't have a pool, Katie mentioned we could use hers yesterday.

"Sure babes, but I've gotta ask Katie." I say and her eyes light up.

"We're going to Katie's!?" She jumps in excitement.

"We can. Just let her get home and settled  why don't you go find a bathing suit to put on." I kneel down to her level and stroke her arm.

"Okay mommy!" She happily agrees and jumps into my arms to give me a hug before she runs upstairs.

Just in the nick of time, my phone rings and it's Katie.

"Hey Katie."

"Hey Scar, I'm almost home. I just need to change. Did you figure out what we're going to do for dinner?" She asks.

"Ummm rose wants to swim and I may have already told her we can swim at your house." I laugh but at least she laughs back, calming my nerves.

"Yeah that's fine. I'm pulling into my driveway now." She states.

"Okay I'll see you in a few!" I laugh and she says goodbye.

I grab a couple juice boxes and throw them into a small cooler bag I have with ice. I don't expect Katie to have juice for the kids. I head upstairs to find Rose in Cosmos room helping him into a bath in suit. Aw, my girl is excited.

"Rosie, thanks for getting him dressed big girl." I coo at my lovely daughter.

"Can we go now!!!" Rose practically screams in my ear.

"Let's give Katie a little more time to get inside. Why don't we grab some toys!?" I say matching my daughter enthusiasm.

Cosmo overhears the word 'toy' and jumps up and runs with his sister to the bathroom. At least they are smart and know bath toys are water toys and can go in the pool also.

A couple minutes later I'm being dragged across the lawns to Katie's front door. I've tried telling Rose to wait a little more but there's no telling anything to that girl. Rose takes it upon herself to knock a couple times and Katie's big black front door opens and reveals Katie, in a coverup with a huge smile plastered on her face.

"Rosie!! Cossy!!" Katie yells and drops to her knees with her arms wide open waiting. My kids run to her and jump into her arms, making me cherish the cute interaction.

I close the door behind my kids and Katie grabs Cosmo from the floor and guides Rose through her open house to the back door. Rose immediately strips out of her little cover up and goes to run to the pool.

"Rose! Sunscreen!" I yell before she can get in the water. She freezes but groans and drops her head back stomping her way back over.

"It's okay rose, I need some too." Katie says and smiles turning to face me. Her gaze makes me nervous and I can feel my face heat up at the attention.

I quickly lather arose up in sunscreen so she can jump in the pool. Katie has Cosmo in her arms still but he's not bugging to get out of them either so she walks closer.
