Scarlett's POV
I've picked the kids up from Colin's mother's house. There was no questions from her and I barely even talked. The kids were quick to run to me and I got them loaded in the car for the long-ish journey back home, so we can get back to my girl.Oh god, my girl?
I can't say I'm not surprised by my brains thinking. Katie is wonderful. Ever since California I feel like my heart has been becoming attached to hers. Then when she was so upset at me at the gala my heart nearly broke but I'm glad I was able to fix that. Last night was something else. She not only makes this other side come out of me, one that cannot get enough of her lips, and her body and her voice. She makes me feel comfortable and sexy and beautiful and it's such a pleasurable feeling.
Once I'm about a half hour away, it starts to pour rain buckets from all the crying Gods in the sky at once. I mean it's so hard to even see the car in front of me and I know what's about to come.
Crying.
Rose absolutely hates thunderstorms, and windstorms, and anything to do with bad weather. Except snow, every kid seems to love snow. She's not always hated it but I think her being able to read now, and see weather headlines on the TV or on signs and newspapers really makes her more aware.
"Mommy, it's raining. I wanna go home." Roses voice is so timid and shaky I just want to climb back there and hug her.
"We're almost home babygirl, just a few more minutes." I lie but I don't want her to stress more knowing we still have 30 minutes to go.
A huge electrifying bolt of lightning zips across the darkening sky and a huge roar of thunder echos through the car. "Mommy!" Rose screams in fear and I'm trying my best to focus on the road but somehow calm down my crying kid. Thankfully Cosmo hasn't said much but I know it's only a matter of time until he realizes Rose is crying.
I decide maybe calling someone would calm not only me down but Rose too. The dial tone rings through the car and another bolt of lightning flashes the sky and I wait for the boom.
"Hellooo." Katies chipper voice rings through the car but a huge boom comes crashing down and it vibrates in my feet. Rose screams and I even jumped at that one. Cosmo starts crying now but thankfully I can see my exit from the highway and I pull off.
"Scar, guys what's going on?" Katie's voice is panicked but it somehow grounds me and helps me focus on the road.
"I don't like thunder storms!" Rose cries answering her.
"Rosie, hey girlie, remember how we played the counting game last time it rained?" Katie asks rose.
"Yes. Oh no lightning!" Rose yells back as the sky flashes a bright light.
"Count Rose! 1..2..3..4..5..6.." *BOOM* a huge roar of thunder comes and rose cries again in fear.
"Wow, Rose there's 6 angels protecting you! That means you have so much protection. Doesn't that make you feel safe?" Katies voice soothes not only me but both kids as I can hear the cries lessen.
"Because the angels are bowling right? And they just want to have fun but they always protect people when they go bowling." Rose sniffles but answers back completing the story of what Katie must have told her.
"That's right! You remembered!" Katie tells Rose. "Where you at Scar?"
"Exiting the bridge, should be home in 10." I quickly say, staying focused on the road. I am so thankful for Katie right now.
"Come to mine. I'll have a surprise for you guys." She says knowing she's on speaker. "How's that sound Rose? Want to see something that I loved to do when it rains?" Katie asks Rose who seems to not even be crying anymore. Distraction really is key.
