"Soo~ This is Dan Heng?" Sushang giggled softly, her shoulder brushing against his in an attempt to get closer to him, potentially to tease him. You knew the girl all too well. Textbook Sushang. What's she gonna do now? You pursed your lips and crossed your arms, awaiting her next line of speech while you walked in between Dan Heng and Luocha. "Y/n has told me so much about you! Or at least... what's on the outside. One night, she confided in me: 'Oh Su, his eyes are so intimidating, yet they hold me captive! Like wandering through a maze, yet exploring every dead end just to "be sure!" Oh, I could go on and on about just his eyes alone, Su!' Or something to that degree." She wiggled her eyebrows and placed a hand over her heart proudly, changing the octave of her voice ever so slightly just to mimic you, except in a much more dramatic fashion.

Your eyes shifted in every other direction but theirs and Sushang simply burst into a fit of laughter. Your face was flushed with red and extremely heated, and it took all of your strength not to shield your face in shame. Dan Heng raised an eyebrow at Sushang, and the longer she continued her recreation, the more shy he got. Of course, you only got the chance to see the faint blush on his face, but you convinced yourself that it was a trick of the light and shook it off. "Surely you're... joking..." He muttered and ran a hand through his hair with what sounded like a chuckle and a cough. "For Y/n's sake, I will not confirm, nor deny!" She winked and placed her hands on her hips in her usual power pose. "For Aeon's sake, Su..." You grumbled in annoyance and ran your hands through your h/c locks to relieve some of the tension building up inside of you.

"For a Cloud Knight, you sure are lax, Miss Sushang." Luocha cleared his throat and shot the girl a nonchalant sideways glance. "Well, Mister... Luocha, what do you expect when two friends are reunited after a long time? And unless I'm mistaken, I recall that you weren't too keen on receiving any help in the first place." Dan Heng was quick to defend your friend, and it warmed the very depths of your heart to hear, even though it didn't seem necessary because Luocha's words weren't coming from a place of ill-intent. After all, he had a point, and it was your fault that she was so off-track. "Hm, I see your point. Carry on then. I personally do not see the need to trample upon such a moment." Luocha chuckled mostly to himself, his eyes closing once again as they had been before and his arms crossing while we continued traveling through Cloudford. "My apologies! I'll remain on guard, regardless. I'll stay a couple paces up just to scout ahead." Sushang apologized with a small laugh. She did just that though and walked a little faster to stay ahead of the three of us.

The walk seemed endless, especially with the significant lack of enemies to face down. You were beginning to feel the burdens of your travel with the dull ache in the balls of your feet. You had hoped that it wasn't too noticeable that your pace had slowed down, but of course, one curious head turned to glance back at you with a worried look. "Y/n?" The way he breathed out your name gave you chills in the best way possible. A slight gasp left your lips and your feet stopped on their own to give him your full undivided attention. "Yes?" You answered quickly, the surprise on your face a little too telling of your lack of preparation. "Are you okay? You seem a little weary. I can carry you if you'd like." He offered and gently rested a hand on your shoulder.

He always does this. Why does he always do this? How does he always make me feel this way?

Your lips parted ever so slightly to give him a response, but the thoughts in your brain prevented you from doing so. Your eyes glanced at all of his features several times over: those eyes, that hair, his voice. He was talking to you again, except you couldn't even hear the words coming out of his mouth. You wanted to hear his silky voice yet again, but for some reason, your mind was putting up a mental block. You could only watch in a daze as his lips moved effortlessly to enunciate every word that came out.

You can't do this to Jing Yuan. You already have feelings for someone else and it is NOT him. What about Jing Yuan?!

Your thoughts were practically screaming at you: the same three lines repeating over and over again. You wanted nothing more than to push them away, even if only temporarily, but they screamed an ounce of truth that you just could not ignore. What about Jing Yuan? "I think you've definitely reached your limit for the day. Hold still." His words finally pulled you back out of your sea of thoughts, but before you knew it, Dan Heng had scooped you up in his arms with a soft grunt as he adjusted his grip to make sure you were secured in his embrace. Your heart picked up tenfold and you hesitated to look up at his face, but you couldn't have been prepared for that look he gave you.

A smile that was so delicate and heartwarming. His eyes reflected that same warmth and compassion that for the longest you had convinced yourself he lacked. "Dan Heng, you didn't have to..." Your voice was barely above a whisper but he somehow heard you anyway and chuckled. "I wanted to. Who else is going to cater to your needs while we're here? Even the ones you aren't vocal about," He tilted his head to the side, the sun capturing a breathtaking image of his side profile and you being the witness as he started talking again, "And I figured that we should continue our conversation from before. The me getting to know you one." You leaned your head against his chest instinctively, the sound of his slightly unsteady heartbeat bringing you comfort for some reason. You weren't the only one feeling something at the moment. You closed your eyes and hummed softly, finding yourself in sync with his heart. For just a moment, just this moment, it felt like you two were the only ones there. Two individuals getting to know each other through conversation. The only two individuals in the world. For some reason, the idea excited you and caused your heart to race and your stomach to flutter.

"Of course we can."

What about Jing Yuan?
