"The cosmos have stirred, Bladie."

Kafka hummed as she pranced around the streets of an abandoned alley to the tempo of her own imagined orchestra. Blade had been the one to take the lead on their journey forward, each step he took with a newfound and festering conviction. He had been rehearsing all that needed to be said to his former comrades, though he also rehearsed what would happen if he just skipped the pleasantries and went forth with the task at hand.

"You're really set on killing that poor girl? I never thought you'd ever shed blood needlessly." She mused in her slow drawl, each word striking a nerve in his tormented soul.

"Tch. It isn't needless, Kafka. She had the misfortune of meeting that insolent fool. He hasn't suffered enough!" He lost composure of his voice for a moment, but he simply bit down harder on his tongue, drawing small traces of blood due to the minor infliction.

"Ah, ah, ahh~ You've grown restless then," The humor in her voice couldn't have been more clear as she caught up to him and placed a hand on his shoulder with a grip that was unusually strong, "And that makes me sick." She spat the words quietly, venomously in his ear, her eyes radiating with their purple hue and her grin seemingly widening to the very tips of her ears.

Blade paused as she had physically commanded, but even he was growing slightly wary of her sudden switch. "Who are you to judge someone for their sins? To administer lethal judgment, at that? Though I won't stop you," She continued and pushed ahead of him with a light force, the grin on her face less prevalent but still present, "If Elio wills it, then I expect you to..."

"Obey me."

A chilling sensation crawled down his back and he clenched his fists tightly. He opened his mouth briefly to give a response, but he knew better than to do so after such a conversation. He knew what Kafka really meant, so for the sake of her, he was going to reevaluate the decision he had long since made. Like she said, it was in his best interests to do so since they were nearing their destination.

"How do I know you aren't trying to use me too?!" You snapped and held Cloud Piercer out a little further to maintain the distance that you still weren't really comfortable with.

"Because I... Y/n, I love you. I do genuinely love you–

"Bullshit!"

You cut him off before he could say anything else. Your hands were trembling and your palms were growing sweaty faster than you thought they would. Compared to the pounding of your heart, his voice was a faint whisper getting lost in the cacophony in your ear. Your chest rose and fell at a pace you were struggling to keep up, and one again, you were being thrown back into that insecure shell of yourself that you had only just escaped from not too long ago.

"How can you claim you love me when... when.. Agh! When you don't even fucking know me?! We have been strangers this entire time, maybe acquaintances, but never lovers! We only just met a few days prior, so you claiming to love me while all of this... this chaos is going on is far from reassuring, Dan Heng!"

Your words came out fast, as if you had long had them prepared for when the appropriate situation would arise for you to finally say them out loud. You watched his expression change in ways you would have never imagined. You saw a flicker of pain, a hint of embarrassment, and a wave of sad realization almost simultaneously. If you hadn't been so riled up, maybe an ounce of you would've felt sympathetic. Maybe. But the situation still stood and you needed answers because the progression wasn't making sense and you refused to be led around like a mindless pet anymore.

"Your best subject in school was history, and still is. You were always fascinated by the previous generals and their contributions to the Luofu, even before you met Jing Yuan. You didn't necessarily worship Lan, but you were intrigued by its nature as an Aeon. You had plenty of friends at your childhood home, so much so that you could never get used to being alone. Your favorite color is [f/c] because of the meaning it holds to you, not just its appearance. You've always yearned for a sibling, younger or older because you found your home behind closed doors dull and suffocating. You look up to Sushang because of the bravery she displays to everyone. You feel the most insecure about how you believe you lack personality, when in actuality... you're just struggling to figure out who you are."

His monologue didn't go unheard. In fact, it rang loudly in your ears. Every word, every syllable that he dared to utter in regard to you left you beyond speechless. You couldn't even find the willpower to part your lips to potentially conjure a response. It was too much, and once again, you were pushed all the way back into that dark corner in your head. The corner that felt like an endless voice of nothingness. The corner that made you feel bound and suffocated by the chains of insecurity and delusion. That same spot you were in mere hours ago. Why was everything so sudden? What happened to progression?

You blinked wildly, his concerned gaze bringing nothing but a cloud of fear in your head. Not because you couldn't understand how he knew all of that information, but because it made you realize that he was no longer talking and that there was an actual ringing in your ears. You gritted your teeth in agony and dropped Cloud Piercer quickly to shut out the ringing in your ears. It was of no use though. You had only successfully shut the noise in and it was mind-numbing. You felt your body slowly sink to the floor and you hunched over to make yourself as small as possible while trying to protect your delicate ears.

Something was calling to you through the never-ending ringing. It scratched at your eardrums and was desperate to attack your brain with whatever message it wanted to give you, but you didn't want it. You didn't want this.

"Y/n."

A voice called out to you and pulled you from the noise. In that dark corner of your mind, you found yourself basking in a radiant glow that penetrated your void. You shielded yourself to prevent the blindness, but even that was hardly enough.

"Why do you shy away from the truth when the lack thereof leaves you in shambles?"

The voice continued to speak, addressing you in an ominous manner and offering vague words that left chills down your spine.

"I gave you purpose. I prepared a life for you in him... in us. Do you remember? Who are you, Y/n? Remember who you are."

It grew more and more agitated and louder with each word. You wanted to scream at them. Scream at them for assuming you even had a real identity in the first place. Scream at them for trying to force you to believe you even had a will of your own. Scream at them... because you had been bottling so much in for too long now. But alas, even within the annals of your subconscious, you were unable to make a sound. Not that you were given much time to do so anyway.

Because a brilliant light shrouded you completely.

And you lost touch with your body entirely.
