"Ah, you've stirred. Excellent. Everyone just left us as well." A smooth voice greeted your ears, and it completely roused you from your apparent slumber. When had you fallen asleep? You couldn't entirely remember. Though the question seemed less important than you figuring out who this person was hovering over you on your bedside.
"Mmh..." You groaned and rubbed your temples to soothe the slight ache. Your eyes fluttered open and you tilted your head slightly in the direction of the man sitting by your side. "Hello..." You mumbled quietly and finally blinked enough of the sleep from your eyes to analyze his figure closer.
He had long flowing hair that was black, or maybe a very deep shade of brown, and silky locks that flowed down his back in such a neat manner. You impulsively wanted to reach out and give it a gentle tug, but you knew better than to do that. The most noticeable feature of his, though, were the extended branch-like horns stemming from his head. They had a faint glow to their teal color, and if you focused hard enough, you could see swirls of energy making beautiful patterns among their translucent beauty. It took a lot out of you to tear your gaze from the top of his head, but you found yourself making eye contact with hazy grey irises. The color wasn't the interesting part, however. It was what happened as he slowly tilted his head to tease your curiosity, which caused the light to shine over his eyes and reflect to you the sudden change in eye color. From a complexing haze of grey clouds to a captivating swirl of hazel fumes is what it felt like you had traveled through in those brief seconds he had teased you in such a way.
He was beautiful.
He was... Who was he?
"You appear lost in thought. Let's start with the basics then. Do you remember any details about yourself?" The elegant man gazed at you with a warm expression, clearly offering a seedling of serenity for you to nurture into a blossoming relationship with him.
"My name is Y/n L/n. I, um... I'm just lost, really... The last thing I remember is... nothing... I only remember my name...." You frowned, but watching his lips curl up into a small smile made your frown recede every so slightly. "Ah, that's okay, my dear. It's only natural for you to feel this way after all... you've been newly reborn." He brushed a strand of hair behind your ear and gave you such a charming smile that was terribly vexing. How could you not believe his wild claim?
"As in... reincarnation...? I thought only the Vidiyadhra were capable of such things..." You inquired and recalled the limited knowledge you had on the long life species. The enchanting man nodded with a soft hum, "To some extent. Truthfully, everyone is capable of doing it, but it is regarded as a sin here on the Xianzhou. But you're special, beloved Y/n. You are destined to serve a greater purpose." His words were enchanting, and your stomach filled with fluttering butterflies that wanted to believe him, needed to even.
But you weren't without your doubts.
"How do you know all of this when I hardly know myself?" You asked softly as you inched away from his intoxicating aura. He simply hummed and stood up from your bedside to draw a cup of tea. "In due time, sooner than I would like, something grave will befall me. When it happens, my present self will cease to exist and instead be replaced with my incubating reincarnation. They will not hold the memories or goals I do now, for better or for worse, but regardless, it is your fate to seek them out again and again. It's how I stumbled upon you this time around." He presented you with a steaming cup before setting the kettle down on the bedside table.
