"What the hell was that about, Y/n?! You are not coming with me!"
His voice was a hushed yell, something that only he seemed capable of pulling off. You glared him down and gently pushed him away, putting slightly more distance between the two of you. "Who are you to tell me what I'm going to do, Dan Heng?!" You snapped right back at him, your anger helping you channel your fierce responses.
"N-No one! But I still care about you!"
"You don't even know me, Dan Heng! I don't need you!"
"But I need you, Y/n!"
"...And I promised I'd keep you safe!" He snapped right back and cornered you against the wall, his arms slamming against the wall on either side of your head. His breathing was heavy and his gaze was a mixture of frustration and sadness, much like you were feeling. You flinched at his sudden reaction and your breath got caught in your throat. He was hovering over you at a proximity that caused your heart to race. You hesitated to push him away again, but instead, your hands rested on his chest and you felt the drumming of his heart reverberating through your body as well. Your faces were only inches apart and you could feel his warm breath tickling your cheek. Your cheeks burned and your heart pounded in tandem with his.
"Y/n, you have been on my mind constantly. I don't know why, but I need to find out. You... You are the key to my memories, and therefore, I need to keep you safe." His words for some reason wounded you. He didn't feel that connection that you had felt, but why did that matter? He only wants to use me... So be it. You turned your head away and shoved him a bit further this time, your eyes narrowed into an icy glare. "Fine, Dan Heng. I'll help you. But only if you help deal with the Stellaron crisis so that I can go back to Jing Yuan and Sushang." You stuck your hand out, your eyes not leaving his.
He looked from your hand to your face before shaking it firmly, "Thank you. But honestly, how do you plan on defending yourself with no weapon or martial skills?" You rolled your eyes and dropped his hand, pushing yourself off the wall and walking towards the Parlor Car once more, "It's not that I have no martial skill. It's just as you said, I have no weapon. I'm sure I'll find one to use once we reach the port of Cloudford. Now, can we get going? I don't really think we have time to waste talking like this." You dusted yourself off of his presence, any trace of him that may have come in contact with you gone. You had your jade abacus around your wrist and your phone in your bag, along with a few other essentials that you felt would come in handy while you ventured through the Luofu.
"Full of surprises, huh?" Dan Heng nodded and followed you out and you scoffed, "Hardly. I told you this before. My best friends were aspiring Cloud Knights, and my boy, er, ex-boyfriend was aspiring to be the general. Of course, they tried effortlessly to teach me a few things, but Jing Yuan... He taught me self-defense in case I ever encountered those followers of the Abundance. So today's the day we test out just how well I can handle myself." You summed up and he huffed in response. "Why did you panic in the face of the Fragmentum monsters in Belobog then?" You tilted your head ever so slightly before crossing your arms and casting a not-so-pleased look in his direction.
