"Did you have that dream again?" Sushang asked with a cheeky smile and a raised eyebrow. She looked incredibly smug for no reason. You opened your mouth to speak but words refused to come out. Instead, your eyes drifted over to Dan Heng and you felt your heart pick up. That wasn't a dream. It felt too real to be a dream. She followed your gaze, but once it fell back on your face she frowned. "No, that wasn't it, was it...? Y/n, what did you see?" Her voice softened and she leaned against the railing beside you with a soft sigh.
I shook my head and leaned against her, my body trembling in the breeze. "I didn't see anything... I heard something that... maybe I wasn't supposed to hear. It had little to do with me, and yet it played in my head as if it did. Su...!" You whipped your head back to look at her with teary eyes, "You haven't lied to me, right?" Her face scrunched up in a look of pain before she inhaled a bit and shook her before offering me a pained smile, "Of course not, Y/n. You are my very best friend. How could I ever lie to you? I would do anything for you." She reassured you and you could feel just how genuine she was.
Sushang would never lie to me...
"Ladies, we have arrived." Luocha's voice carried off delicately like the wind. We both looked over and watched the Starskiff sail towards the dock. You all had reached Stargazer Navalia and Sushang let out a cheer. "Right on course!" She grinned from ear to ear as the guys stepped off first and she helped you down. "I thought we were going to Starskiff Haven..." You mumbled softly as you looked around at the towers of shipping containers and the even more maze-like layout of the Starskiff creation grounds. "Oh my Aeon..." You exhaled as you shrunk back, feeling tiny compared to the stacks of containers and cars that you couldn't see over.
"Y/n? We have to keep moving." Dan Heng gently touched your shoulder, but you flinched away from his grasp and backstepped a couple of inches, "Please... Don't touch me..." His eyes flickered with something you couldn't quite describe. The only thing you knew was that it didn't fit his features. He retracted his hand and hesitated to form a fist. The way his fingers curled up instinctively gave you a dreadful feeling, and you looked away from him with a frown. "What happened, Y/n?" He asked and from the tone in his voice, a shudder rolled down your spine and made it even harder for you to face him. "You happened, Dan Heng... You refused to talk to me, and all of a sudden I have this weird dream about Jing Yuan and... and a Dan Feng!" You threw your hands up dramatically before pointing at him accusingly.
He didn't say anything and instead kept his gaze on the ground, the look in his eyes hidden from your expecting gaze. You scoffed and backed away from him, "You have nothing to say, Dan Heng? Nothing at all? Then we're done here." You turned on your heel and started walking off to catch up with Sushang and Luocha who had walked and didn't bother stopping.
"Y/n," I felt Dan Heng's grip on my wrist, and within seconds, my body was pressed against his, "Y/n, listen to me, please!" His voice was low and husky as he grabbed your other wrist and held them both close to his chest.
"L-Let me go! How can I trust you when you aren't even honest with me?!" You cried out and tried to pull yourself away but he refused to let you go so easy. He huffed in return pulled you closer to one of the nooks of the shipping container towers.
"Dan...! D-Dan Heng, let me go!" Your pleas for him to free you seemed to be falling upon deaf ears as he pinned you against one of the containers and panted. His gaze finally met yours and there was a fire in it that made your breath hitch in your throat. His eyes held a darkness in them that was riddled with guilt and hardship. The way his chest heaved up and down. The way his hair was tousled from the fight you put up against him. The way his grip on you softened, but he refused to let you go. It all made your heart race, and you couldn't find it in yourself to struggle any longer.
Why?
"Y/n, please just... listen to me... I-I want nothing more than to tell you everything that I know, but I just can't, and you have to trust me!" He started and his hands left your wrists and gently cupped your face, "Y/n, you believe in fate, I know you do... And while I've been chasing the shadows of my past, I see shadows... of you. You were somehow my past, Y/n, and now you are my present." His gaze was piercing and it hurt to look any longer. You found it hard even to comprehend what he was saying, but he said the magic word.
Fate.
"Please, just tell me the truth, Dan Heng." You breathed out shakily and took deep breaths to calm the tension you were feeling, "Tell me everything..." You watched his gaze shift from your lips back to your eyes, and for a split second, you didn't know who this male was standing before you. One of his hands reached up and brushed your hair back delicately. You bit your lip anxiously and the tension between you both was sizzling with a passionate heat.
"You are my everything."
