Brittany and I sat down at our regular spots in the middle rows closet to the windows. Half of the class was already seated and waiting for the teacher and the other students. English has always been one of my favorite classes because of the books the teachers gave us. They weren't super romantic, or only on action, but fit me pretty well, and the same went for the rest of the class. Brittany and I started talking and the girl in front of us turned and joined the conversation. There was apparently a pool party in a week at one of the richer students houses. They were senior, but invited the juniors along since we would be seniors next school year.

I was busy talking with Brittany and Mel (the girl in front of me), when the door opened and in walked the popular boys. Now, not like the movies when their beautiful hair blows without a breeze and everyone sees them in slow motion with cool music in the back while they wink at a girl or two. They were popular because they brought the school teams to victory and threw some really good parties, and ok maybe yes, looks were definitely part of it.

Max was in the group because of his baseball skills and parties he had thrown in the past, along with three other boys. James Kennet, popular for his volleyball skills, tanned skin and cute face, Darren Shaw, popular for his wild parties and volumes hair, and one of the most popular ones, Luke Davidson. He was known for his basketball skills, his beautiful hazel eyes, light brown hair, and overall structure. All the populars were friends, Brittany sometimes in that group, and they looked the best at the school from clothes to face.

The four boys walked over and sat behind me while Max slid in beside Brittany and gave me a quick smirk and wave. I let out a small laugh as Brittany was still talking with Mel before realizing  Max was beside her. The two started talking when the teacher finally came in and stopped everyone from talking.

"I know its your last day, but were still in class. Im putting on a movie while I give back your work from the past week."

Within seconds, a movie started playing, and I whipped out my sketch book and opened to the drawing I had been working on. It was Brittany and Max at the carnival after Brittany won the stuffed bear. I had always loved to draw like my mom did before my dad left her and she lost her passion.

I was working on shading the scenery, when the teacher slipped out of the room to grab and drink, and my sketch book was pulled out of my arms and into the arms of Zach Louis. Zach was like a bully, but not violent or too harsh, but really annoying and a pain. He waved it in my face while I tried not to lash out at him.

"Cute drawings smoke puff, I hope your plan isn't to be an artist."

Zach and I went to the same middle school, and if your wondering about the nickname, I might have made a smoke cloud when I mixed the wrong two ingredients in a science class in grade 7 and that earned me the name of smoke puff for Zach, who made it know to the whole class. Zach laughed while I tried to get it back, but he stood up and raised it out of my reach. Im not exactly short, 4'4, but he was about 6', probably the only reason he made the basketball team. I would never jump or beg to get something back from Zach, but in a second, someone else had grabbed the book from him, and left both Zach and I confused. I looked at the person who now had my sketch book, to find none other than Luke Davidson holding my sketch book out to me with a mad face and staring down Zach. Zach backed down pretty fast, move back to his seat as I took my book. Luke took his seat behind me as I slid in mine and noticed Brittany looking at me.

"What was that?"

Brittany looked at me with a confused and happy mixed face, while her eyes traveled from me to Luke, to Zach.

"I think someone has two boys whipped for her."

I had to hold back a laugh as Brittany spoke, and she had to do the same.

"I have no idea about what your talking about my dear friend."

Brittany tried to ask me more questions but we stopped talking when the teacher walked back in and spent the rest of the period watching the movie, but I couldn't help but try and look behind me to look at Luke while not making it obvious. I didn't know what cased me to do this, but I wanted to know why a main popular would even know me enough to save tiny me from tall Zach.

Luke was one of the main populars if you were to ask anyone at the school. Like I said before, the popular people were the best looking, threw the best parties, and were really good at sports. There are seven popular boys, and 9 popular girls. The girls were mostly cheerleaders, or party throwers, but some were just popular for the personality. Brittany was like that. She was a cheerleader yes, but because she didn't let that go to her head, lots of people liked her.

I was middle of popular. I had brown glasses and longish chocolate brown hair usually put up into a ponytail or bun since I didn't like wearing it down for school. I had pale blue eyes and a smallish nose. I was small and not a very big figure like other girls at my age, but I didn't really care. I would wear loser clothes paired with my up hair do, so no one really saw me in tight clothes or with my hair down besides friends and people who I went to middle school with.

The bell went off walking me up from my daydreaming and the teacher dismissed us. I grabbed my binders when Brittany hooked her arm through mine, kissed Max goodbye, and lead me out of the room and down the hall to our next class...
