Summer before Senior

Snacks and Cars

Just at the right time, my alarm went off and I woke up to no sun and a light coming in from the hallway. Mom and Ben must have already gotten up to pack the car. I moved my covers and stretched before changing into a loos shorter t-shirt and slipped into my white sweats. I grabbed a sweatshirt incase I got cold in the car and then went to wake Carlos up. He was still under his blanket with bed hair and I smiled while going to wake him. I gave him a small shake and he opened his sleepy eyes and focused on me.

"Time to get up buddy. We should be leaving soon. Don't forget to grab your sweater incase it's cold in the car." 

Carlos got up and grabbed a sweater as I went down the stairs into the kitchen to grab my water bottle and fill it up. I screwed the cap on as Carlos came down and did the same when mom walked in and gave us each a hug before making coffee to take on the road. Ben came in from outside a few seconds after and gave mom a kiss on the cheek before she handed him his coffee. Carlos and I then got our shoes on before heading out to the car. We had put up blankets and a pillow on our seats before we had gone to bed that nigh and set our snacks and car activities by our seats last night. 

Carlos and I got comfortable in our seats, and Mom and Ben came out a just after. We were going to Myrtle beach in South Carolina for the nest two weeks, and since it wasn't that far, we would drive is early in the morning so we could reach it by mid day. 

Carlos and I fell right back asleep when Ben started to pull out of the drive way and mom did a last place over everything to make sure nothing was forgotten. Carlos and I would usually sleep til around 9ish while Ben drove until mom would drive. And at 9:17, I woke up to see Ben pulling into a dunking donuts place, meaning we were stopping for breakfast and a bathroom break. I woke Carlos and we got out of the car. Mom was already waiting for Carlos and I while Ben was going to get in line for car breakfast. 

We quickly went to the bathroom and when we came out, Ben had just gotten to the counter so we hurried over and order our breakfast to go so we could get back on the road and take less time to get to our beach house. 

Around 2pm, Carlos and I had watched two movies, played four different card games and six games on my phone and his iPad. We just stopped for lunch at subway and mom was currently driving. Ben was asleep and Carlos and I took turns talking to mom while the other either slept or played a game. 

It was around 10:37 by the time we arrived at the beach house, and I was so happy to be out of the car. We hadn't hit any traffic so the ride went by fast. I admired the house and how it hadn't changed since we were last here. It was a light blue with seashells along the bottom. There was a sand path that led to a double front door and front padio. There was a path that led out back to the beach but I was always too scared to go back that way because of any animals like snakes that could slither over my feet. 

I grabbed my suitcase from the back along with my car/carrying on bag, blanket and pillow before heading inside right behind my mom. We walked in the mom switched on the lights and I smiled at the inside. There was the small area dedicated to the front door, that then led to an open room with a huge T.V and you couch and two mini couches. To the left was the kitchen that had a big island in the centre with many different cabinets with the dinning room connected to the kitchen with an open area to the open room as well. To the right of the big room was a downstairs bathroom and the staircase to lead upstairs. I walked up to the second floor to see the five rooms. Three were bedrooms and two bathrooms, however, the master bedroom had a bathroom inside and a bathroom connecting two of the other rooms. Carlos had the blue room that was on one side of the connected bathroom rooms, with mine, the pink room on the other side. Our rooms were the same size, mine with a queen bed, and two dressers with a full length mirror, and Carlos had a twin sized bed with three dressers and a window seat. We were connect because of the bathroom in the middle room between us. It had two sinks and a big shower. I unpacked my suitcase before heading over to help Carlos, who was busy bouncing on his bed and looking all happy. 

I got him to calm down and we started to unpack when mom came in and helped us finish up. We then headed downstairs to where Ben was making a quick and easy dinner. We ate in front of the T.V instead of in the dinning room since we all wanted to stretch out legs after being in the car all day. 

We all finished eating and then headed to bed. It was now around 11:30 and as I slipped under the cool covers of the bed, I easily relaxed and fell asleep.
