I was so happy about being by the beach side for the time I had. The breeze always brought a cool down for the hot days and relief from the burning sun. Our little beach house always warm from the cooler evenings, and as a cool down place after walking down town. I had been at the beach for two weeks almost now and just like all other times, never wanted to leave. I had hung out with Madison tons, finding outfits, going out for lunch, going to the beach, but she left for college after my first week here. I still text her and really want to continue our connection. I've also spent time with David even after the weird, thing, on the beach when we first met, but got over it and when we would hangout, Carlos and Danny would tag along and David and I loved to tease them about being in love. Most times I hung out with David, his friends from the beach also hung out too. I had never really made such connections but I guess I finally got out of my comfort zone this year.
Now that my time at the beach was coming to an end, I had spent more time with Carlos, as much as I could, time with mom, and avoided as much time I could with Ben. My mom only brought that up once and never again. I now only had two days left, and the last one would be all packing so I was getting changed to go hangout with David and Karley one more time before going home. I had just put on a light blue cropped t-shirt and ripped black jean shorts and was tying my hair that had gone more blond from its natural brown from the sun, into a messy bun, when my phone started ringing. I thought that maybe it was Karley or David but when I looked at the contact, I saw it was Josh! I quickly slide the answer button and then placed the phone to my ear.
"Hi Josh! How's your summer been so far?"
I smiled as I heard Joshes voice from the other line.
"Hey Katie! It's been good. Just called to check that you were coming home in two days right?"
"Yep!"
"Great. So then in five days, would you want to go out to dinner with me?"
I smiled and had to take a breath before answering, super happy.
"I would love to! See you then!"
Josh said goodbye while I hung up and I let out a squeal of excitement. I couldn't wait to tell Brittney and Miles as I opened out group chat and sent a quick text before then grabbing my purse and heading down stairs. I threw on my sandals, said a quick goodbye to my mom and Carlos before heading out and grabbed my bike and started heading downtown.
It only took me about five minutes and then locked my bike onto on of those holders for them. I then walked down a bit to see David and Karley waving at me. I sped up my pace and when I got there, Karley wrapped me in a huge hug.
"I can't believe this is our last day together."
She started to fake cry and I ended up laughing and so did David. After two minutes, Karley let me go and we started walking through town. We went in shops, got stuff to eat, and took tons of pictures.
I looked down at my phone after the last picture, and saw it was 4:13 and had been here for hours. I gave Karley one last big hug and side hugged David before running back through the small town to my bike. I unlocked it and started heading for the beach home.
I got back and placed my bike in the garage and then walked to the front door. I opened it to see Carlos playing with some of his toys and heard mom and Ben cooking. I took off my shoes and walked over to Carlos. I sat down beside him as he gave me a quick hello more focused on playing.
"So Carlos. Is there anything you still want us to do before we go?"
Carlos finally gave me his attention and smiled.
"We've done so much. I don't think that there's anything let for us to do. But we still have our finally movie night here tonight though, right?"
"You bet."
I ruffled his hair again and then got up to go see what mom was making for dinner. I got the kitchen to see mom straining something while Ben was leaning over a stove pot. Mom noticed me as I sat down on one of the island chairs near her.
"Hey honey! Hope you had fun with your friends! Dinner should be ready soon and then I want you and Carlos to get started on packing and just leaving out clothes for the car."
I gave her a nod and then opened my phone to the group chat between Miles, Brittney and I and saw I had missed way too many texts. I then went upstairs to my room to just call instead of texting.
"Hey guys!"
"HIIIIIII!"
Brittneys high pitched hello came through the phone and I laughed along with Miles.
"What have you been up to Kitkat?"
I calmed down when I heard Miles calm voice on the other end, but I still here some hidden excitement from him.
"So I know it was weird to just text you and then have my phone on silent, but yes, since you know, I'll be going out with Josh in a few days!"
We all squealed into the phone as I think both Brittney and I jumped up and down in excitement. I told them about how he asked and then even mentioned the whole first meeting David thing since we tell each other everything, and just wanted to get that off my chest. After 25 minutes, my mom called me for dinner and I quickly said goodbye and we planned to meet the day I got back while they help me, unpack.
I then ran downstairs and sat down as the food was being passed around. After everyone had theirs we started eating and talking about starting to clean tomorrow. I was in charge of the whole upstairs, Carlos the living room, and mom and Ben the rest. After we all ate, Carlos found a movie and grabbed all the blankets while I made popcorn and grabbed the last candy that we wouldn't take in the car and then sat down with him. Mom and Ben took the big chair in the room close to us and we started the annual final movie night...
