Summer before Senior

Shopping girls

I pulled into a parking spot at the mall closet to my house that also had the most summer like stores. I looked in the mirror and pulled my hair up into a high ponytail then got out followed by Carlos and we headed towards the mall. As we stepped through the doors, the cool air conditioning hit and I took it in. We had only walked across the parking lot, but summers here could get pretty hot. We walked through the other set of doors and then headed toward the escalator to find the shoe store and bathing suit store. 

After walking for a bit, we came across the shoes, and Carlos went in and started looking around.  I then told him to stay in the store and try on some sandals and I would be back in a second. I left and walked down three stores then crossed to the other side and into the bating suit store. I looked around and saw so many different variety's and colours of suits. I started looking around when I heard a familiar scream.

"Katie!!"

I turned and saw Emily running over and she wrapped me in a hug. I laughed and hugged her back even though we only really talked on the last day of school. 

"How was your first night of summer?"

Emily looked so happy and exited as she asked and patiently waited for my answer.

"Good. I had a sleepover with Brittany and Miles last night. We do those every year. Next time maybe you could come."

I knew what I said could be a long shot, but I knew Brittany knew and like Emily since they had hangout together before, the problem would be Miles since everyone made fun of him on his fist few days of sophomore year when he didn't have a girl friend yet. Emily smiled and it looked so happy and genuine. 

"So you must be looking for a new swim suit. Can I help? I am amazing at judging and picking out outfits for people."

I laughed as Emily started leading me around the store and grabbed about five different choices and then three cover ups reading my mind. She then grabbed me a change room and shoved me in telling me to try everyone on and showing her. I looked at all the options and saw a cute pink bikini with spaghetti strap, a calm green full piece with an open back, a black one piece, a purple bikini with tie straps and a subtle red bikini off the shoulders. I tried the black one piece first and liked how it was plain and could wear it comfortably. I opened the curtain of the change room and showed it the Emily who said she liked it but it was little to plain. I then tried on the green one and found I liked it better and Emily agreed and we decided it was in the keeps pile. I then tried on the cute pink bikini and then walked out to show Emily again. She said it looked cute, but it felt little big and it was the smallest size they had, but I still loved the cute colour on me. I was just about to go and change when I heard Carlos call my name.

I turned around and saw Carlos running towards me. I knelt down and hugged him before looking up to see Luke walking behind him. Emily then got up and knelt down to see Carlos.

"Hey! You must be Katie's brother. I'm one of you sisters friends Emily."

Carlos smiled at her and I turned to smiled as well forgetting to ask why Luke was here until Carlos turned back to me.

"You were gone so long! This guy, Luke, saw me wondering around and asked what I was doing. I told him I was here with you and he helped me find you."

I turned to look at Luke who was already staring at me. 

"Thanks."

Luke just nodded before turning around the starting to head out of the store. Carlos then ran after him and grabbed his arm. 

"You should stay. I don't want to see my sister try on a bunch of clothes. Girls take forever the shopping. Can you come with me to the toy store please?"

Carlos gave his puppy eyes and Emily and I laughed as Luke looked at me.

"I'm fine with it. As long and we meet at the food court in 20 minutes."

Luke agreed and took Carlos out of the store and I went back in the change room to try on the other two bikini's. I ended up getting the green one along with the pink bikini since it looked the best. We headed down to the food court realizing how fast the time went. I saw Carlos waving over to me when Emily and I got to the bottom of the escalator and started heading toward him. Luke had bough Carlos fries and then said goodbye saying he had to get going to meet a friend after I gave him the money since he had apparently paid for Carlos's sandals. Emily then gave me a quick hug and a high five to Carlos before we all left. 

Carlos and I got back in the car and started to head home, after making a stop to McDonalds for a milkshake. We got back and I saw Ben had arrived cause his back fancy car was parked in the driveway. I parked the car and then grabbed the bags before headed inside with Carlos right behind me. We got in and saw Mom had gotten all the snack and food bags ready along with water and games we were taking. Ben was cleaning up so the house wasn't a mess when we would get back. I gave mom a hug before heading up stairs to put my new swimsuits in my suitcase and gave Carlos his sandals so he could do the same. I brought down my bags, one suitcase and one car/carry on bag. Carlos then brought down the same and my mom and Ben had one huge suitcase and each a smaller car/carry one. 

We then ate dinner, bbq chicken, before heading to bed since we had to get up early the nest morning to leave since we were going to drive. We didn't have to go across the border, but it was still a long drive. I fell asleep after setting my alarm to go off at 3:15 since we would leave at 3:45. I couldn't wait to fell the ocean waves and sand and the cool beach breeze. I was so ready for my get away....
