Chapter 29

It was the next day and what your mother told you plagued your mind to the point you couldn't focus much to Kunikida's dismay and all you wanted to do was cry but you kept it in until....

"L/N! Are you even paying attention?!" he snaps making you break out of thought and look at him.

"Huh?" was your response.

"For gods sakes focus! You have been spacing out and taking me completely off schedual and if I'm behind far too much its on your head!" he bites back and you can't stop your eyes from watering up.

"I'm sorry..." you manage to say albeit a whisper with your head down and shoulder slumped.

"Sorry isn't going to get me on time!" he says completely oblivious to your mood.

"Uh oh..." you hear who you presume as Atsushi say seeing as he is pretty empathic and can tell someone's emotions a mile away "Uh Kunikida... I think you should calm down"

"Calm down?! Atsushi are you out of your mind?! I'm 10 minutes off schedule and have an important meeting soon which I now have to end up being late to because L/N can't keep her head out the cloud" he rants but suddenly goes silent when he hears sniffles near him and when he turns he sees a tear fall onto your lap.

"I-I'm... Sor... Sorry..." you manage to choke out before quickly standing up and leaving the office.

"Oh boy..." Atsushi sigh before the door slams.

Your currently sat in cafe Uzamaki drinking a hot coffee trying to calm down. Of course this was cutting into your work hours and it might get docked from your pay but you didn't give to shits to put it quiet bluntly.

You heared the bell ring signalling someone coming into the cafe but didn't bother looking and stayed scrolling on your phone signalling to everyone not to disturb you but obviously they didn't get the memo when you heared someone sit opposite you but with the smell of calogne you easily recognised it as Kunikida's.

"L/N. Please look at me." He asks and you being the salty bitch you are sometimes decide to flip him off to express how your feeling towards him and earning a sigh in response "I came here to apologise"

You paused and placed your phone to the table then crossed your arms and leaned back as you look up at him.

"I listening" you say bluntly.

"I didn't realise you were going through something or that the way I spoke to you was ungentlemanly of me and made you upset. I apologise for my actions" he says while bowing his head down and you decide this is the best chance for revenge.

"Too late, I can’t cancel the contract with the hitman anymore." you say with as much seriousness as you can and keeping a straight face as you stand up.

"Wait? What?!" he exclaims as he jumps up from his seat in a panic.

"See you later Kunikida" you say as you wave and walk out the cafe going then going straight upstairs to the agency with a wide grin on your face.

"Uhh what's wrong with Kunikida?" Atsushi whispers to you and Dazai while you watch the said male walk around cautiously and constantly on guard.

"I got my revenge on him" you whisper back.

"Ohh? What did you do exactly Y/N?" Dazai responds with a grin.

"He apologised and my sarcastic response was to say it's look late cause I can't cancel the contract with the hitman" you respond.

"Oh I like that very much" Dazai says with a chuckle.

"You still torturing Kunikida?" Rampo asks as he sits on your desk.

"Of course" you grin "watch this".

You pick up a stapler then drop it on the floor and watch as Kunikida let's out a scream and ducks unter his desk making you, Rampo and Dazai crack up laughing while Atsushi just facepalms.

"Wow Kunikida your so jumpy today. Any reason?" Dazai asks teasingly.

"N-No reason! Get back to work!" Kunikida barks out as he tries to act like nothing happened but still keeping his guard up.

"Are you actually going to tell him the true Y/N?" Atsushi asks.

"Yeah I will just before I leave" you say with a smirk making the boy sigh.

The end of your work day arrives and you say goodbye to everyone and just before you walked out the door you told Kunikida you lied and he was not happy but you luckily left the office before he could chew you out which made you laugh.

You went back to the apartment with your mother to collect your things then once you collected them you gave her a hug just before leaving the house then walked down the street where you were going to me picked up by one of the members. You walk to the corner and lean against the wall as you scroll through your phone when a black car pulls up. You glance up and smile when you see the window roll down and  Higuchi is sat in the driving seat.

"Hello Y/N!" she says with a smile as you put the bags on the back seat then get in next to her.

"Hey Higuchi! So you were tasked in collecting me today?" you chuckle.

"I need to pick up Akutagawa from the main street and it was on your way so Mori asked me to pick you up" she explains.

"Ah that's fair enough" you say "well then let's go. Don't want to keep the hot topic poster child waiting any longer"

You both laugh at that as Higuchi starts to drive to pick up her boss.
