Asaal
Wedding weeks are so stressful, I'm a bridesmaid and it's not even funny I've been going up and down since morning, today is the Kamu and I also have to visit mama today cause she's in Abuja in her sisters house
"Are you ready to visit your mom?" Nurain asked
"Yes please, before I get sent again" I said
I put on my black abaya and black scarf and i grab my phone, we went downstairs and quickly went to the car, we got in and we were on our way to my aunties house in Guzape.
"Im so tired, I never want to be a brides maid again or cousin to the groom" I said
Then Nurain chuckles
"3 more events to go" he says
"Your cousin loves events" I say rolling my eyes
"Yeah she's a party girl" Nurain said
I sigh as we reach my aunt's house, I was so scared I was going to cry, we enter the house with a salaam and I see my cousin in the living room, the one getting married, Ra'ees
"Oh Asaal ke ce? Long time no see, how have you been?" He asks getting up from the chair, I give him a side hug and he hugs me back
"I've been good, this is Nurain my husband, and nurain this is Ra'ees my cousin" I say
They shake each other
"I think we've met each other" Ra'ees said
"Really?" Nurain asks
"Yes, when I came for gaisuwa, you were there" he says
"Ohhh yes, I remember, nice meeting you" Nurain said
"Where are our mothers?" I ask
"Upstairs" he says
"Nurain stay here, I'm coming" I say
I went upstairs and knocked on the door, and I heard a come in, I slowly opened the door and I went inside
"Asaal?" Mama said
"Ina wuni mama and auntie sadiya" I say
Then I went over and hugged my mom, I hugged her soo tight! I even started crying
"Mama I missed you so much" i said still crying
"I missed you too my baby" she said patting my head
"Mama that man, he made my life hell when you left, mama he literally got me married off" i said
"He what?!" She shouted
"But I'm happy in the marriage" I said
"No, no, no, how old are you?! Aren't you 18? You're married at 18, do you know the risks?! You aren't even mentally prepared for anything! Sadiya call your husband I'm filing a complaint against him!" Mama shouted
"Mama his family members are nice to me, there's no need for that, his mom is like my second mom, she does everything for me" I said calmly
"I wanted you to finish school and get a job, I didn't want you to be staying in a man's house and be giving him kids and not doing anything" she said
"Mama he's not like that, he's exposed and I still go to school, he helps me get through everything, and he's patient with me, he gives me space that I don't even need sometimes" I said, I miss him already even though he's downstairs, can she like tell me to bring him here
"What's his name?" She asks raising a brow
"Nurain Dansari" I said
"The one from Kano?" She asks
"Yes mama" I said
"Those arc my in-laws" auntie Sadiya said
"Yes, Halima dansari" I said
"Did he come with you?" She asks
"Yes mama" I said
"Call him" she said
I stood up and I quickly went down stairs
"Come" I said
He follows me at the back and I take him to mamas room, he squats and greets she and auntie Sadiya, I walk over to the balcony and get a chair
"Mama can he sit?" I ask
"Sure" she says
I put the chair opposite the bed and he sat down on it, then I went to mamas side and sat on the bed with she and auntie sadiya
"So Nurain, what do you do for a living?" She asks
"I work in my dads company, I'm the head of the gas marketing department" he says
"I see and how old are you?" She asks
"26" he says
"7 year's difference not that bad, and how do you make my daughter happy, how do you make her comfortable?" She asks
Then I look at him and he looks at me
"I noticed that your daughter loves it when people give her full attention all time, she loves it when I sit down and listen to her stories and jokes, she also loves it when I sit down to watch the movies she recommends, so I always give her my full attention 24/7, I listen to all her stories and laugh at her jokes and I also watch her movies with her a lot, I love making her genuinely happy it makes me happy myself" He says, I was already smiling then I noticed my mom was looking at me
"The both of you are in love with each other yes?" She asks
"Haba that's not a question to be answered, look at the way he looks at her, doesn't that answer your question?" Auntie sadiya said
Then mama nodded then she took a deep breath in then let it out
"How do you deal with her panic attacks and self harm, does she still do it?" She asks, then I look at her and she looks like she's about to cry
"She recently had one, I calm her down in my own best way possible, I hold her hands and let her know that I'm there for her, then when she starts crying I hug her until she stops" He said
"And the self harm?" She asked
"She doesn't do that anymore" he says
Then she releases a sigh
"Does her father or step mother visit her?" She asks
"Don't worry she's safe, no one is allowed into the house unless we give permission" he says
Then mama opened her arms, signaling for him to come give her a hug, he stood up and came over to her and hugged her
"Thank you for taking care of her, May Allah bless you both" she says
"You're welcome mama" he says
"Mama we have to start going home, I have things to get before I start going home to get ready for the kamu" I said
"Jealous girl kawai, you can go" she said
Then she let go of Nurain and we said our salams and left, we went downstairs and I saw two of my other cousins with Ra'ees
"So Nurain we'll see you later yeah?" Ra'ees asked
"Yeah sure no problem" he said
"Later? What are you doing later?" I ask
"Asaal don't forget kamu is only for women, I can't come, so I'll be here with your cousins" Nurain said
Then Ra'ees and my other cousins started laughing
"You're so attached to him, wai! Soyyaya dadi" Ra'ees said
"That'll be you in some days man" my other cousin Samir said
"Nahh, I hate all of you, Nurain let's go" I said
"We love you too cous, bye!" The three of them said then they started laughing, I miss all of them, we got the car and stopped by dunes to get some stuff then we went home, I had to go to my room straight to shower and then put on my black abaya to go and do my make up, I went to the guest room and Ruqaya just finished her make up, just in time, I sat on the chair and my make up was being done
"You guys halima just announced that we shouldn't be late, as we are the bridesmaids we should be at the venue by 5" salma said
"It's 3:30 now we still have time, and let's know our car arrangement, mommy said we have to go with escorts so we're taking the Land Cruisers" Ruqaya said
"Okay Asaal, Ruqaya and ihsaan will stay in one car, then I, Na'eem and Nafisa would be in the other" salma said
I sat down patiently while they were gisting, finally the make up artist was done
"Asaal, are you sure people won't mistaken you as the bride? You look so gorgeous!" Salma said
"Ethereal" Ihsaan gasped
"Breathtaking" Ruqaya said
"Gorgeous!" Naeem said
"You guys have to stop, you guys look sooo stunning too Allahuma Barik! You guys are gonna make me cry" I say
"Wait till Yaya sees you" Ihsaan said
I roll my eyes at that comment
"He's probably going to say the make up is too much" I said
"Let's start getting ready, you know how halima is" Salma said
We all left the guest room and I went to my room, Nurain was in my room using his laptop
"You sure you're not the bride?" He says still looking at his laptop
"Shut up" I said smiling
Then he looks up and gasps
"Take my breath away! You look so gorgeous, no gorgeous is an understatement statement, I can't even describe this beauty with words, Asaal this is the type of beauty that causes fever" he says
"Aww thank you, always my number 1 hype man" I say
"I know, no one can beat that" He said
I entered my walk- in wardrobe and removed my clothes from the hanger, the atamapa was designed with navy blue and silver flowers, I sewed mine into a borno style skirt and blouse it was so elegant, I went to my dressing table and put on my gold bangles, ring, necklace and earrings, then I tied my scarf the zarah buhari way and I sprayed perfume, I sat down on my stool and put on my silver heels and I took my silver purse.
"Take care Asaal, if anything goes wrong, call me okay?" Nurain said
"Sure I will and have fun with my cousins" I said
"I surely will" he said
We smiled at each other then I left the room, I went downstairs and we took some pictures and we left the house.
We arrived at the venue at 5 on the dot, when we came down from the car halimas other friends where there, we went over to them and then ihsaan and salma where talking to them, so I stayed with Ruqaya and Nafisa
"Is Yaya going out?" Ruqaya asked
"Yes, he's going to my cousins place" I said
"He knows them?" She asked
"We went to my mom's place earlier and he met Ra'ees" I said
"So they like invited him over?" She asked
"Yeah, I think Khalid will be there cause him and Ra'ees where in the same secondary school" I said
"Oh yeah he told me he was going" Nafisa said
"They're even coming here cause Ra'ees needs to take pictures with Halima" Ruqaya said
"Oh yes that's true" I said
Then cars started coming in with escorts, it was my mom and my other aunties, they came down from the car and we all went to greet them
"Oh so you're a bridesmaid?" Mama asked
"Yes mama" I said
Then Ruqaya looked at me
"Oh let me introduce you to my sisters in-laws" I said
Then I called ihsaan, Na'eem and salma to come over
"Mama these are my sister in-laws, Ruqaya, Na'eem, ihsaan, Salma and Nafisa" I said pointing at them as I'm saying their names
"Ina wuni" they all said
"And this is my mom" I said to them
"All pretty girls Masha Allah, this one looks more like your husband" she says pointing at Ihsaan
Then she smiles
"You look so much like Assal, I see where the beauty comes from" Salma said
Then mama smiled
"A lot of people say she's prettier, but I don't see it" she says, then we all laugh
"Mama you have to be in the hall, Halima will soon come" I said
Then she nodded and walked into the hall with her other sisters, just as she went in, halimas cars came in, she opened the door and I think I was the only person that noticed
"Asaal" she whisper shouted
Then I looked at her concerned
"Come" she whisper shouted
I walked to the car and entered the back seat with her
"What's wrong?" I asked
"I'm nervous, do you think me and your cousin will work out? I mean I'm in love with him and I know he's in love with me, but I'm just thinking what if your auntie doesn't like me? The pictures she has seen of me were me with my hair open, but when I met her she was being to nice to me, what if she was faking?" She says
"Calm down, my aunt loves you, she has already taken you as my In-law my family members aren't like that, they love everyone and for the opening of hair, I do it to, it was my husband that had to correct me, cause you know I'm a married woman now, Ra'ees won't hold you back but he'll talk to you about it, he's the most loving person I've ever met, he hardly shouts" I said
"I know, i know, im just scared and you know he's a prince, what if we're forced to live in sokoto?" She asks
"He's the second to the last born, no one cares if he stays or Leaves, but you'll have to be in sokoto for at least a week, they'll have to receive you cause you're a princess now" I said
Then she calms down
"You're the only sensible person in the Dansari family, every other person is just assuming I'm being petty and spoilt, you understand me, I love you so much girl" she says then she hugs me
"I love you to sissy" I say then I hug her back
"Wait do I have to go outside?" She asks
"Yes you do" I laugh
"Ugh, toxic people" she groans
"Today is all about you forget them" I say
I get down from the car and I come to her side and open the door
"You were with her inside?" Salma asks
"Yes" I said
She came down and I helped her walk to were everyone was
"So the cousin train is going in first yes?" She asks
"Yes, that's me, Ruqaya, Naeem, ihsaan, hafsat and Amina" Salma says
"Good then the brides maid train comes in after I come in, please Asaal should be in front" She said
"Alright" Salma said
Then we all arranged ourselves, I was infront and we waited for Halimas 2 aunties to take her in before we also entered.

Nurain
"So amongst all of us here, Nurain and Khalid you're the married ones tell us how it is" Raees said
"It's wonderful, I mean I like it, if you just want to live peacefully then you have to follow what she says, just agree with her on most things, sometimes you can correct but calmly and nicely" I said
"Exactly, don't shout at her, be patient with her, just agree to everything says if you want to stay happy" Khalid said
"Thanks bro" he said
Then his phone started ringing
"Hello mama" he said
From his facial expressions we knew she was shouting
"Alright we'll be there in 10 minutes" He says
Then he ends the call and closes his eyes
"Let me guess, we have to be there at the kamu?" I ask
"Yes" he says
Then everyone started groaning except me and Khalid we both wanted to see our wives and we were both wearing our kaftan so we had no problem
"Let's all change" Ra'ees said to his cousins
"We'll wait for you guys" i said
They all went upstairs and I sat down and used my phone, so did Khalid, Asaad couldn't come cause Hanifa had to go back to Uk for her masters so he's missing everything
"Let's go" Ra'ees said coming down from the stairs
His cousins followed him behind and we all left the house, i and Khalid entered my car and we were at the front of the escort line, well not really at the front cause there escort cars with us. We finally reached the venue and we came down from our cars, we met auntie Sadiya outside and we greeted her, she told us to go to the back so that we could enter from there, then she told the MC we were here and she called on us and we entered inside, we went to the front and I saw Asaal sitting on a throw pillow on the floor same as Nafisa and the other girls, she was just using her phone then one of her friend told her to look up, when she saw me looking at her she smiled, I smiled back at her, she and Nafisa stood up and they both approached me and Khalid
"Hows the event going down you like it?" I asked
"Yeah it's going good, I saw all of my cousins that I haven't seen in a long time" she said
"Ya Asaal" a little girl said while running to her, she looked ten
"Awww Haniiii! I missed you so much!" She smiled
Then she bent down to hug her then she stood up
"How are you hani?" She asked
"I'm good Ya Asaal" She said
Then she looked at me, she was a cute kid
"Ya Asaal is he your boyfriend?" She asked
"Nope, he's my husband Hani, say hi to Ya Nurain" Asaal said
"Hello Ya Nurain, I'm Hani but my real name is hanattu, and I'm 9" She said to me
"It was a pleasure meeting you Hanattu—
"Hani!" She screamed
"Sorry Hani" I said
"You too Ya Nurain" She said
Then she ran off to Halima and Halima smiled, looks like everyone loves Hani.
"Let me introduce you to my other aunties" Asaal said
She then dragged me by the arm and we went to a table full of aunties
"Hello!" She said
"Asaal! How are you? We missed you so much, come and give me a hug" one of her aunts said
She hugged her and hugged the other aunts
"So guys, this is my husband his name is Nurain Dansari, he's cousins with the bride" I said
"Oh Masha Allah! He's a fine man, how old are you?" Her aunt asked
"26" i said
"Masha Allah! May Allah bless the both of you both!" One of the other aunties said
Then they started announcing the entrance of someone, it was Mama, she was surrounded by people, body guards and DSS they took her to her to the table halimas mom was on with my other aunties
"Let me go and greet my mother in law" Asaal said
Then we both went to mama
"My babies, Asaal you look so beautiful Masha Allah" she said holding Asaals hands
"Thank you mama, you also look stunning mama" She said
Then she looked at me
"You can't live one minute without her?" She asked
Then I chuckled
"Mama let me bring my mom to come and greet you"  Asaal said
"She's here?! No I have to get up and greet her myself, finally I'll get to see her" mama said excitedly
Then she stood up and Asaal held her hand and took her to her mom I was right behind them, mama was right I can't live a minute without Asaal
"Mommy this is my mother in law, my second mother" Asaal said
Then her mom immediately stood up and smiled, she and mama hugged each other like they knew each other
"Thank you so much for taking care of her and making her feel happy and safe, and your son is wonderful young man, you did a good job raising him up" Asaals mom said
"Oh it's really nothing, Asaal is a daughter to me, I treat her like I treat my own kids, and I can see where she got her beauty from, you're as pretty as her" Mama said
Then they looked at the two of us
"They fit each other so well, he can't even live a minute without her" Mama said
"Before he came she had been squeezing her face and using her phone, look at the way she's smiling now" Her mom said
"Mommyyyy" Asaal said
"We'll leave the both of you, Asaal let's go and take pictures" I said
Then we turned around and left them to talk, mothers.
