Chapter 3: She is mine.

As Axel escorted Maya outside, Ominis went to sit on the staircases in front of the Slytherin's entrance. Feeling like a fool, he took his head in his hands.

"Bloody hell... I really messed up what was supposed to be a nice surprise for her... I'll have to figure out something to make up for this..." he said to himself.

At the same time, the snake drew the door where a freckled man went out of the common room. He noticed his best friend sitting as Ominis straightened to the sound of the entrance appearing and disappearing. Sebastian went to sit next to him, concerned about him.

"Hey... You look down... What happened?" Sallow asked.

"I... Messed up with Maya..."

"How so?"

"I... I wanted to surprise her later with some good news this evening but... I... I heard Axel and her talking and I panicked... I spit it out in a not nice way and now she seems to be upset about it... Maya deserved better than this but I did let my emotions go out of control... That's so unlike me..." Ominis admitted.

"Since when are you jealous of someone that approaches... Wa-wait... Are you telling me that... You have feelings for her?" Sebastian asked surprised.

"I... I do... Pretty much from the beginning but... I never told anyone and certainly not you because you two seemed to go along." the blind boy replied.

"And what was the news Maya got upset about?" he asked.

"I told Axel to not get too close to her because she was engaged... And... As you could guess... She is engaged to me, I went to professor Weasley this morning to ask Maya's hand which she approved pretty easily."

"Did I hear you right? You asked her hand to her aunt? How dare you Ominis! You know she was with me!" Sallow hissed as he suddenly got up.

"Oh come on Sebastian, you never loved her, you have all eyes on Avril, wake up you fool!" Gaunt retorted, standing up as well annoyed by his friend's behaviour.

"How would you know about my feelings, as if you knew better than myself!"

"Honestly, somehow I wonder which one of us is the blind one for Merlin sake. Open your eyes, you barely talk to her anymore and wander where Avril would probably be. If that's not proof then I wonder what it is..." Ominis scoffed.

"Whatever... I'll go find her, goodbye Ominis." he said furiously before running to find the newly engaged Ravenclaw.

Meanwhile in the courtyard,

"How do you feel, Maya?" Axel asked gently as his cerulean eyes looked down at her.

"Unwell... I... Never thought I'd be enrolled into an arranged marriage... Not with Ominis and mostly not learning it that way... He is a good friend but... No more..." her voice had a hint of bitterness due to her engaged status.

"I know pretty much how it is... You see... My twin, Avril is predestined to marry someone too. Someone she doesn't love, we hope that we could somehow bring that wedding down." he explained.

"Oh Merlin... I... I am so sorry for your sister... I hope she will be able to get out of this situation and find happiness in the arms of someone who would truly love her." Maya said genuinely.

"She probably has found someone, I noticed my sister had her eyes on someone but haven't really talked to him yet except in class. But I feel like it will be going well so I have no other worries than to find a way to break her engagement for the moment."
