Sitting on a chair, her eyes clinged to her engagement ring, Maya was feeling like she was suffocating from all this situation. Her love for Axel was a forbidden one because of Ominis Gaunt who asked her hand which the redhead accepted under pressure of her aunt and his family. 'Breath, breath' she tried to repeat to herself into her mind but the pain was too much to handle, her head spinning as if she was about to faint soon until her emeralds saw the shape of a male body before her. Her eyes lifted up to be able to see who it was as she instantly recognize the man before her, it was no one else than the one to who her heart truly belongs to. A tear came out of her orb and rolled down her cheek, his hand came to her face and intercepted it before it had a chance to fall down. Axel took her hand, leaned to kiss her knuckles before finally speaking to her.
"Would you do me the honour to dance with me?" he asked her with a wide smile.
Maya speechless as her heart only wanted to respond positively to him but her eyes went to Ominis who was currently to his father. The eyes of Malachi Gaunt went on the redhead for a moment which caused her breath to stop for a moment. His cerulean eyes followed hers and saw the Gaunts afar. His eyesbrows frowned as he looked back at Maya, he was concerned for her and didn't want her to feel bad about anything.
"Maya, you don't have to be scared about anything. Nothing is going to happen." he told her with a reassuring tone.
Her gaze went back to him with such a desperate expression on her face. How much she wanted to be with him without having to worry about the other and Axel was right she was scared but for herself. The redhead was scared for him, to be hurt, to have to endure any kind of physical or mental pain. All she wanted was to be able to protect him, even if it meant for her to abandon the idea of being by his side forever. Maybe, they weren't meant to be, not in this lifetime. Just the thought of it was unbearable to her, her eyes full of tears which are about to burst out anytime.
The boy gritted his teeth, went on his knees and took her into his arms, the view of her crying was too painful for him to handle. Axel loved her, dear Merlin how much he loved her. He couldn't care less about the gossips, the punishments or all what could happen to him if it meant the boy could stay with her, always and forever. Holding her close, his hand moved gently on her back to comfort her as the warm pearls into her eyes were falling down on his shoulder.
"Axel, I'm scared... I don't want to marry Ominis..." she said to him.
"You won't, I swear to Merlin, the only one you'll marry is me."
"I don't want you to risk anything for my sake Axel... If anything ever happen to you..."
"No, stop. Don't say that, nothing will happen alright? We're stronger than this."
Axel released Maya from his embrace to be able to look into her emerald eyes, his hands cupping her face. He wanted her to understand that his love for her was beyond anything else and that the boy couldn't care less about the danger, there was nothing holding Axel back from having what he wanted the most right now: Maya.
"Listen to me, I told you that you're mine and mine you will remain Maya. None of them can change that even if they make the whole Ministry of Magic coming after us. You are worthy of anything that could ever happen, good or bad, joyful or painful. I won't let anyone separate us, I won't allow it, do you understand me?"
"But Ax..."
"Hush now." he said placing his finger on her lips. "Please Maya, understand. I can not leave without you. I would rather live one day with you than a million without you." he said.
"If loving you is wrong then... I don't want to be right." she said with a soft chuckle and smile.
Axel laughed a bit, happy to see the girl he loved so much smiling again, his thimbs were wiping her tears away.
