The feels of the cold water on her skin was refreshing. Passing the liquid on her face once, twice, three times before drying her face with a small towel. Her emerald eyes went to the mirror in front of her, looking at her own reflection.
"Come on Maya... You should have known this would happen right? It's an engagement diner after all. Aaahhh But Axel being here..." she sighed. "Alright... You got this Maya, you'll go back and everything will be fine! Go!"
As she was a bit more confident and motivated, the girl left the water closet looking down at first, watching her steps to not fall from a false movement before lifting up her face to see where she was going but Maya didn't have time to realise what was happening that her back hit the wall. It was Axel that pushed her against it, his right hand against the wall being real close to her.
"Just friend you said?" the honey blond man with an annoyed tone in his voice.
"Axel you knew it was..." she didn't had time to finish her sentence.
"JUST FRIENDS YOU SAID MIYA!" he shouted.
He green eyes opened wide to the sound of this name into her ear, this name unheard since she was fourteen years old. The redhead couldn't believe it, was it truly him?
"Maxen? Est-ce que c'est toi?" she asked in her mother language as she was taken aback by the situation.
(Translation: "Is that you?")His hand went to his collar as two of his fingers went inside just to slide a part of a silver chain out. This necklace was holding something a little leather ring in pitiful state as it was made of old material. This ring brought back memories as her hand went to her dress' pocket.

Beginning of flashback
August 4th, 1888. Derbyshire, England.
Maya is ten years old.A bit more than two years ago, two young little children met and made a promise. Ever since that day, the promise has been kept, seeing each other every day, talking, playing, crying, laughing together as true best friends.
As time passed, Maxen taught Maya how to talk better in English and new vocabulary, in exchange, the red head taught him French.
They loved to learn together and see each other, sharing their passions and life. Eventually, a greater emotion was slowly emerging from their bond.
It was a bright shiny day, the summer wasn't too hot, the weather was then enjoyable. Maya sneaked into the orphanage garden and awaited Maxen near the red roses by smelling their sweet essence.
Maxen came into the garden, flowers surrounded the red head he came to see. In his hand a little cupcake he clandestinely made in the middle of the night for her. It wasn't an extravagant cake but simply a yoghurt cupcake.
"Happy birthday Miya, may this day be a joyful one." the blond boy said as he arrived behind the crimson head.
Emeralds opened wide, turning around to see him with the brightest smile she had.
"Maxen! You remembered!" Happiness across her face showing up.
"Have I ever forgotten?"
The boy took a little twig he found, making sure there wasn't dust or anything that would detach from it and planted it on top of the cake. Concentrating on the tip of the twig, a flame began to appear.
