Left, right, left, right...

You're doing it Lydia, just one step after the other... Slowly towards Pierce The Veil, and Alexis.

Kill me.

Thank god Alexis will be there though, thinking of my best friend made me step a little faster. I finally got into the elevator after getting past an enthusiastic Joshua. I don't know how people can be so hyper in the morning.

The elevator doors clicked shut and I realised that I had only a few minutes until I actually reach my office.

Oh, I'm also an hour and a half late. On my third day of working here, if I may add.

As soon as the doors opened again I could feel my heart rate pick up. I hesitated before taking a step out onto the floor. Is it too late to turn around and go home? Probably.

I could hear my shoes click on the carpeted floor as I walked towards my office. I just threw on clothes this morning, and so did Maddie. Last night was one of the rare nights that Alexis didn't crash at our apartment. I guess now you can see that Alexis is very important in my life- for example; I'm late for work when she decides to stay at her own apartment.

I stood right outside the door. When I stayed silent and still for a few seconds I realised that it was silent in there.

With my confusion and curiosity both getting the better of me, I put my hand on the familiar handle, and softly opened the door.

I let out a breathe of relief when I realised that the band were recording something in the studio. They were focusing on the music so they weren't even looking through the window. I walked over the Alexis who at watching them, and pulled on the set of headphones that were left by, pulling them on so I could hear the music they were recording.

"In desperate times and desperate measures, I come so close, my hopes are severed by the downside, A million waves in the ocean crash at once to make you smile.

"Now, I only pray when it all goes down, I'll be surrounded by all of the ones I've loved and cared about, And then burn it down..."

I didn't recognise the song, or any of the beats. I figured they were recording a new song, and so far, it actually sounds amazing. Although it definitely needs some work.

I've got to give it to Vic though, the lyrics are absolutely gorgeous. I took off the headphones in awe, and turned to tap Alexis. She jumped and removed her headphones.

"They're amazing. Holy shit Lydia." She said to me immediately, still looking dazed from the music. I nodded and she smiled at me. We got into a conversation but before we knew it the song was over and they were walking out of the room, one by one.

Mike came out last, sweating slightly and holding his drum sticks. He patted Vic on the shoulder and then turned to join the conversation with the band and Alexis. He caught eye contact with me almost immediately and the expression on his face was unreadable.

He motioned to the door with his head and I nodded. We definitely need to talk.

"What do you think L-Levi? You're the professional." Lexis turned to me, nudging my shoulder. I smiled at the band the best I could.

"The lyrics are amazing," I said first, looking at Vic. He actually blushed, looking down "and the rest is just as good, but I think the bass drowns out a few of the words, and does the song have a guitar solo?" I picked out as much as I could from only hearing a little part of the song.

They're all obviously serious about their music, taking in everything I was saying and nodding along.

"Yeah, it does. We can work on all that, sounds good. Thank you Levi." Jaime put in with a small smile, making the rest of the band nod.

"Good," I'm starting to feel comfortable around them all again and it's scaring me "does anybody want any water?" I looked at Mike.

"I could do with some."

"Yeah, please."

"I'll come with you." Mike added, and Vic glanced at him, but obviously let it go and started talking to Alexis about the song they were recording.

We both walked out, keeping a safe distance between ourselves, and as soon as the door clicked shut behind us, I leant against the wall and turned to him.

"So..." I said, willing him to speak.

This is normal, a conversation with someone I kissed yesterday. Happens to everyone, Lydia, and everybody stays calm. After yesterday, Mike drove Maddie and I home without awkwardness or anything like that which I expected, it was normal. He kissed me on the cheek when he let me out of the car and watched me walk into the building before driving away.

It felt like a date.

"I really shouldn't have kissed you yesterday..." He muttered, running his hands through his hair. My eyes shamelessly followed his arms as they flexed over his head. Drumming sure does him good.

"I know." I agreed, wetting my dry lips. It's obvious we let it get out of hand. I'm his best friends ex; it's a little awkward.

"I wasn't thinking." He leant one arm on the wall next to me and twisted his body to the side.

"I know." I repeated, looking at his arm next to me. I've noticed Vic has pretty nice arms too, maybe it runs in the family.

"But I really want to do it again." He stated, throwing his body around and leaning his other hand on the wall, trapping me in front of him. His stance definitely shows confidence.

"I-" I stopped myself from just repeating the same thing again, and he smirked. "Are you sure that's a good idea."

"I strongly believe we just need to get whatever this is out of our system."
