"Hello?" I answered the phone. I quickly looked around my surroundings to see that I had fallen asleep on the couch with Maddie squished in behind me: a half empty glass of white wine still on the coffee table.

"Hey Lyd," I recognised Mike's voice come through "you wanna hang out?"

"Uh," I looked around again, quickly glancing up at the clock. It's about half 7 so I can't have been asleep long, although I don't remember Maddie being here with me earlier. I looked down at my clothing seeing a stained crop top and sweats. "You could come over here?" I suggested.

"Yeah sure, text me your address." He said, and I heard a rustling in the background.

"Okay, bye Mike."

"Bye babe." He replied easily, and I heard the call disconnect as I slowly pulled it away from my ear. He just... You know what, I'm just going to forget it. He can call me whatever he likes.

Seeing as I only finish work at about 3 just in time to pick up Madison, we can't have been home too long, and I only opened the wine around half 6 so I must've only had about half an hours sleep, if that. I gently stepped up from the couch and turned to see Maddie's cute little face pressing against her hand. I quickly texted Mike my address and then sighed.

My mind faltered as I heard a clash come from my bedroom. What the fuck was that. I frantically looked around, grabbing the glass of wine, it'll protect me somehow; I could splash it in their eyes. Yes, Lydia, smart thinking.

I slowly tiptoed towards my bedroom, wine in hand, and when I got there it was silent. I opened the door slowly to see Alexis pulling off her tshirt. She stopped and gave me a 'butter wouldn't melt' grin.

"What the fuck Alexis! You scared the shit out of me." I whispered yelled at her. She put her top back on and took a step towards me.

"I'm sor- ooh you brought me wine." She took the glass out of my hand, taking a large gulp of the white wine and making me sigh at her. "Anyway," she continued, bringing the glass away from her lips "I thought I'd stop by, but you were sleeping so I wanted to sleep, and I was going to take your bed so..."

She gestured to my bed and walked towards it. She pulled her shirt off before pulling the blanket back and jumping in.

"Alright," I gave in "but not a word from you because Mike is coming over, I didn't think you'd be here."

"I'm always here." She argued with a scoff, and then shooed me out; of my own bedroom. I closed the door behind me just to let her sleep.

I walked back into the living to see Madison at the door talking to no other than Mike. I walked quickly over there as she jumped on him and pulled him into a hug. "Mikey!"

"Madison," I scolded "what have I told you about opening the door." Mike smiled at me, walking in with Maddie still attached to him in a bear hug. He softly kicked the door shut behind him and walked over to me, pulling me into a hug and squishing Madison between us.

She giggled out, wriggling around and then started laughing. We all broke apart and she jumped down and ran back over to the sofa, dragging mike back with her by the hand and talking at an inhuman speed.

The best part is that he doesn't even seem to mind that she stutters every now and again, or repeats sentences. He doesn't even pick it out, he just smiles reassuringly and let's her correct herself in the rare occasions she has trouble.

I couldn't help but smile and watch them kind of creepily, until Mike looked over to me, gesturing for me to sit next to him. I smiled (probably a little too widely) and walked over there. I looked down just before I sat down next to him, to see my outfit again.

Shit. I was supposed to change. Suddenly I felt an arm going around me before I was yanked onto the sofa and into Mikes side so we were both sitting directly opposite Maddie.

"Relax, you look fine." He whispered to me, moving a piece of hair out of my face. He turned again and went straight back to talking to Maddie, and I couldn't do anything but sit there pressed to his side trying to control the blush that was fighting to rise on my face.

"She's asleep," mike whispered, closing Maddie's bedroom door and creeping back over to me on the couch. He sat so he could face me and I turned, propping one of my legs on the sofa so I could face him too. "So, I actually wanted to hang out today for a reason."

"And what's that?" I asked him with a teasing smile. He grinned and shook his head at me, looking down for a brief moment before staring back up at me with a smaller smile.

"I spoke to Vic about this, and whatever we're...doing right now, it's going to kill Tony- I mean, we can't do this, right?" I got it, I expected it and I was practically waiting for the day he would at it- I didn't expect it to be this soon but I was waiting for it.

Knowing all that I still couldn't hide the little bit of disappointment that surged through me.

"I know." I agreed quietly. He got up and I followed suit, walking him to the door. I didn't think he'd stay anyway.

"Lydia, you don't know how much I wish this was different, and a part of me is thinking 'just fuck it' but another part can see Tony's face if he finds out and..." I nodded and leant against the wall next to the door. God why does this feel so much like a breakup. We were barely even together. It's probably just seeing how amazing he is with Madison and how much he gets along with her.

"Friends though, yeah?" I asked.

"Yeah." He hesitated before opening the door and walking out, just before it clicked shut he pushed it back open, surprising me and taking my breath away.

I felt his lips moving against mine before I saw him move and my breathe was taken away in a whole different way. The feeling didn't last long as he pulled away, giving me a sad smile.

"Just one for the road." And he was out of the door, this time not coming back.
