"Lydia!" I carried on walking. I knew he recognised me the moment I saw him.

"Lyd, please wait. Just-" a hand grasped my upper arm and gently turned me around. I came face to face with Mike.

"What?" I asked sharply. He frowned at me, before opening and closing his mouth. Never, in all the years that I've known him, has Mike Fuentes been speechless.

Before I could decipher what he wanted to talk about, I felt his hand slip from my arm to the middle of my back, and in an instant I was encircled in his arms and softly pressed against him.

As much as I convinced myself that I didn't want too, I was quick to wrap my arms back around him. We didn't hug for long before he was pulling back. He kept me at arms length, just inspecting me and then he smiled.

"You've barely changed. I can't believe- how many years- why did- I have so much to talk about with you." He rushed to get all of his words out, so I barely caught a sentence. Every time he thought to say something new, he just blurted it out, cutting off his last sentence. "Can we get coffee tonight or something? It'd be really great to catch up."

"I don't know, Mike..." I hesitated. Again, my mind flooded with memories, from the second I first saw his intimidating face, right up to happily shopping with him and the last time I saw him; on stage.

"Just me, I won't tell the guys, I just want to talk. I've missed you, Jesus Christ, Lydia." He pulled me back in for another hug. It was only natural that I huffed him back. Mike became a brother to me after living with him so long, but like everyone else, I grew away from him on tour.

As you've probably gathered, touring was a major setback for me back then, and it really kind of fucked up my whole life.

I let myself breathe in the familiar scent, and I have to admit, I really have missed him. I've missed all of them.

"One coffee, that's all you get. I'm not going through this again, okay?" He must've understood what I meant, because he just pulled away and nodded at me.

I'm not getting close again just to repeat history. I just can't do it again. I don't have the strength.

He handed me his phone, telling me to put my number in. I was hesitant, but I put it under 'Levi Jones' just to be safe, and told him to text me a time and place. He walked back towards my office and then I continued towards... I have absolutely no idea where I'm going.

Great.

"Alexis!" I shouted, pulling on skinny jeans. "Lexis!" I repeated, louder. I heard her mutter something from her room loudly, and then a door slammed. Loud clicks of heals were heard coming towards my room.

I got my jeans just under my bum as she slammed open my bedroom door and stormed in.

"Wha- nice ass." She smirked, letting her anger drop. Yes, we have that type of friendship. The kind where you can't tell if they're very close best friends, or hardcore lesbians.

"Why are you looking all..." I gestured to her clad-fit dress and high heels. I looked to her face, seeing her hair straightened framing it, and then dark eye-makeup surrounding her eyes (to make a statement, as she once told me.)

"Hot? I look hot right?" She asked, smiling at me. I nodded, agreeing with her. "Good! Because I have a date." She squealed, and I smiled at her, until I realised why I was trying to get dressed and actually look a little presentable.

"You said you'd watch Maddie for me tonight." I whined at her, finally pulling my jeans on and doing them up.

"When? No I didn't!" She argued back, and just as I opened my mouth to reply, I realised I hadn't asked her. It completely slipped my mind.

"Shit." I cursed, looking at the clock hanging from my bedroom wall. Mike texted me to meet him in half an hour. It'll take me too long to find someone to babysit her for me now. I felt like slapping myself.

"Look," Alexis said sighing "I'll cancel, it's fine. You know I don't mind-" I cut her off. I really take advantage of our friendship sometimes, but when she looks so excited and hot (obviously to impress) I can't just expect her to drop everything for me.

"No Lexis, I can't let you do that." I told her, she tried to argue but I just cut her off. "I guess Madison is meeting Mike today." I said it with fake enthusiasm, and Alexis, picking up on it, gave me a sad smile.

"Good luck." She told me, giving in.

Yeah, good luck, I'm taking my daughter to meet her unknown fathers best friend. This can only go well.
