You know that moment where you feel like your life is going downhill, and you momentarily think you're about to have a mid-life crisis, but then you realise that you're too young for that and it turns out that that instead you've just fucked up your future because your life is officially on it's way down.
This is that moment for me.
I'm a few days into a new job that's now using me for fucking advertisements because I was famous a few years ago, I'm also being stalked by the press because of that said fact, and now my ex-fiancé who didn't recognise me (thank god) has now figured out who I am and is currently staring at me with his jaw dropped.
Oh, and I've also made out with his best friend a few times in the past few days.
Definitely going downhill.
To think I was doing so well before people started finding out who I am again. That started the chain of events that lead to this. Oh yeah, this.
Pierce The Veil and Brian all staring at me. Tony looks shocked, the rest of the band are indifferent, except Mike, who is giving me a small smirk/smile. Brian just looks like he's waiting for me to say something. Shit, I should actually say something. It turns out I didn't have to though, as Brian started speaking anyway.
"Lydia, your assistant," he glanced at her with distaste, and unlucky for him I picked up on it. I felt my jaw tighten. "Miss Evans phoned a few minutes ago and arranged this emergency meeting."
"Oh, I'm sincerely sorry." Alexis shot back, obviously picking up on his glance and tone of voice. She scowled at him as she said it. I couldn't help but notice how awkward the band looks. I motioned to Mike for them to go into the recording studio and he smiled and whispered something to Vic.
They all walked in there without a second glance from anyone but me.
"I'm having a very busy day Miss Evans, and I don't see how you are of any use to this business, so I will not hesitate to fire you." Brian shot back, obviously angry. I think I can spot a vein popping out of his neck.
Either way, it pissed me off. I didn't even have to think before I argued back.
"Fire her. I dare you, because if you do I'm sure your busy day will clear up." I knew he could tell that I was being sarcastic. He probably thinks I'm a spoilt bitch anyway because of the fame, but he hired me so really it's all on him.
I stared him in the eye and watch him physically back down. He shied away from both of us, nearing more towards the studio that the guys are in.
"You obviously have a lot of business coming your way due to the advertising you've been doing lately, no?" I saw Alexis walked behind him and into the studio too. She definitely knows that I can handle this. I internally grinned when I saw that she left the door ajar, she's so nosy sometimes it's unreal.
I didn't even think about all the issues that may come after this, especially with Tony, I just shouted and got angrier at my boss. How fucking dare they use a picture of me that I didn't even know they took for a fucking billboard, and whatever else they've used it for.
"Am I right?" I snapped at him. He back away from me a little, even though there is still clearly a lot of space between us.
He hesitated but then answered quietly "Yes, Miss Starr."
"I thought so. Anyway, I've been wondering, Brian, why I haven't been informed about this new method of advertising. I would've loved to help." I all but shouted. He opened his mouth to speak but I cut him off.
"Oh wait," I smiled "technically I did help though, didn't I? Because you've been using my fucking picture everywhere!" God it feels good to just shout at someone.
"Miss Starr, I sincerely-"
"Apologise?" I laughed, "you're lucky I'm not suing you." I saw his face visibly go paler as I spoke.
"This has been a very terrible misunderstanding Miss Starr," Brian bargained "I'll be sure to talk to advertising and make sure it doesn't happen again. If there is anything I can do, please do not hesitate to ask and again, I am so sorry for this. I'll be sure to fire whoever took the picture and printed it without your permission. We only aim to please our workers Miss Starr, and you are a credit to have here." I swear to god, he looks like he could wet himself any second now. I nodded along with everything he said, internally grinning for winning the argument.
"Thank you Brian. I appreciate that." I smiled, and I couldn't help but think how much this man kisses my ass. From the day that I got here, all I've done is get special treatment, and it's actually quite nice.
As Brian opened his mouth to speak, a woman opened my office door after knocking and leant her head in.
"Brian there are some reporters downstairs, they'd like an interview with Miss Starr about the company." I glared at Brian as he spewed out apologies and profanities and rushed out of my office. The door slammed shut and I let out a laugh.
"He fucking praises the ground you walk on." I heard Alexis behind me laughing as she walked out of the recording studio. She walked up to me and pulled me into a quick hug "but thank you, for like, shouting at him for me and stuff."
"Anytime, Lexis."
I looked up behind her to see the band staring at us, and I knew I'd have to speak to them now. God, I hate this day already.
