seattle grace hospital wasn't a hospital anymore as the merger happened with mercy west which meant that the hospital name needed to be changed to seattle grace mercy west hospital that alison thomas had watched the builders put a new sign for the new and mergered hospital, where a resident in orange came past her almost making her spill her freshly made coffee down her.

"hey!" she shouted to what the resident turned back quickly, "sorry!" he responded as alison rolled her eyes, "new residents," she said walking towards the hospital building, "great, i get the crazy one next to me," a new resident responded to where alison comes into the room, with her bag on her shoulder, "you wanna fight? cause i will,"

izzie said standing up, "stevens, dont," alison said in a stern voice when looking around at the new residents who invaded the resident lounge, "morning, residents, i am alison thomas, head orthopaedic surgery," she said to them looking at the mercy west residents who were all in orange scrubs, "she's hot," the same guy that bumped into her responded to what alison walked out of the room.

as her eyes scanned the hallway seeing a bunch of orange scrub mercy westers invading their hospital space, as alison continued walking until she was near the head of surgery's lounge, getting changed into her dark blue scrubs.

the orthopaedic surgeon looked around the busy er room, "this the overflow from mercy west?" derek questioned when coming to alison who stood at the nurse's station, "their er closed for good last night, everyone's coming here," she stated to derek who smiled, "a perk from the merger," he stated as alison nods her head, "ah, my new attending,"

"first day back?" derek questioned callie who came towards them, "yeah," she stated looking at the three surgeons, "you picked a good one, nice and quiet," derek playfully said as alison looked to her friend, "not a lot going on,"

"ok, where do you want us?" cristina yang questioned the surgeon, "at this point, anywhere is good," alison stated looking away from her chart, "at mercy west, we do zones,"

the same male who bumped into her came towards them, "when it's super busy, we give everyone a zone, a space," the man admitted, "the nurses put a person in, you know it's your patient," he said, "helps get to them quicker,"

cristina stepped forwards, "yeah, well, this is an er, not a schoolyard, we're not playing four square," she stated as owen hunt came towards them, "i like it," he said when hearing the conversation, "what?" cristina then said seeing her boyfriend, "it's a good idea, let's try it," he recommended, "your name?" he then questioned the newcomer, "jackson avery,"

"dr avery, dr hunt, and this is dr thomas, head of orthopaedic surgery," owen said introducing the women to the newcomers, "it's all yours, zone away," owen said walking away with alison beside him.

dr miranda bailey came to where alison thomas and callie torres were talking, "did the gentlemen from the waiting room ever find you?" bailey questioned when looking at callie, "what?" callie questioned, "it's the gentleman who could possibly be your father," bailey then said as callie now looked at the women, "what?" she questioned again.

bailey moved her head to the side to where the three women all turn their heads looking into the waiting room and seeing calliope's father in there going through a magazine, "uh—" alison looked at her best friend, "go talk to him," she encouraged her friend who nods her head, "i'll be—i'll be back," alison nods her head, "i know you will, torres,"

the man then said with callie walking out of the waiting room not looking back to her father, "you can't pray away the gay!" she then said as alison went towards her best friend taking callie away from her father's eyeline.

"i need to find millie, i need to find her," alison put her hands onto her best friend's shoulder, "i can—i can page her, callie," she went onto her pager paging her best friend's girlfriend to where the two women stood in the supplies closet.

when alison saw her girlfriend, she also brought her girlfriend into the supplies closet as well, "the man flew three thousand miles to make me straight, with a priest!" she said to the three of them, as millie searched for supplies that owen needed, "i'm lucky they didn't match into the er swinging incense, all helped up for exocrism,"

millie looked to her raged girlfriend, "are you done?" she questioned, "am i—no!" callie then said to her girlfriend, "he came here to disinfect you from my life, you don't find that abhorrent?" callie questioned her girlfriend, "do you guys find that abhorrent—?"

"i do, but—" millie said to her girlfriend still looking for supplies, "there's no but," callie said to them, "oh, you're gonna tell me you get where he's coming from?"

arizona looked at her friend as millie also looked to her girlfriend, "maybe you should try and talk to him," millie suggested as callie shook her head, "i have nothing to say! if he wants to throw away our relationship after thirty years, that's his decision," calliope said as millie then turned to her girlfriend, "he hasn't done anything here, you're the one who changed the game,"

alison looked in between the two girlfriends turning to her own girlfriend, "maybe we should go," arizona nods her head exiting out of the closet when seeing some residents look at them, "mind your business, back to work," she said to the residents who all went back to work immediately.

alison charted her patient's pre-op when she hears charles percy talking to his mercy west friends about izzie stevens, "the women does whatever i ask, i want something," he clicked his fingers, "she gets it for me, the research library? anytime you wanna go in, it's closed, just say the word,"

"don't—" she said to charles when the resident went to go walk after izzie, "i'd leave her alone," she stated when handing the man her patient's chart, "go sort this out for me," she said handing him the chart roughly, "go!" she said hen she saw him standing around, "now,"

calliope torres walked past where her best friend stood, "callie," she said when seeing her friends's teary eyes, "calliope!" she shouted after her friend who didn't stop as she paged millie to see her girlfriend who went into the head of surgery lounge.

alison rounded the corner when she then saw charles near to the blonde cancer doctor, "izzie, it wasn't personal," he said to the resident, "that stuff, it just—comes with the job, i'd expect you to do the same thing to me," he admitted as izzie stared at him, "outside of work, you can be friends, but inside, it's an complete different story, at least it was at mercy west," he admitted about his hospital.

"well, that isn't how it is here," Izzie said interrupting charlie, "here, we don't just think about ourselves, we support one another, we have each other's back, we—" izzie started to say, "we throw ourselves in front of buses to save the lives of complete strangers!" izzie scoffed, "you will never measure up to the people we've lost!"

thomas said when seeing the mercy west resident turn to face the orthopaedic surgeon, "i'm going, i'm going," he stated as alison crossed her arms over her chest watching the man walk away from izzie's patient's room.
