The judging for the food contests went late into the evening. Tom volunteered to run the maze while supported Kenna. Unfortunately she did not win, however she did get 2nd place in almost all categories, and 4th in the Candy section. That didn't bother her too much, because she had never made candy before. What upset her the most was the BBQ section. She said she had been working on the dry rub for years to make it perfect, and the sauce for months, but was happy for the winners.
We walked around Main Street, played some games, went through a few attractions, voted for the scarecrows we liked. The school does a contest every year where the students make scare crows and put them up around town to be voted on.
Kenna liked the Minion's scare crow. She said it was one of her mother's favorite movie series way back in the day. I haven't seen any of them however.
We happened upon a scarecrow family on display. There was a father, a mother, and in the mother's arms, and again, I saw that sadness in her eyes.
I asked her if there was something bothering her. She tried to play it off like it was nothing, but I wouldn't give up that easily. Eventually she admitted that she was in love with me, and that it was a beautiful thing, however, there is one aspect of life that she can not have with me...
Children.
