[VOL-1]CHAPTER-9:BURIED SECRETS

At midnight, Aiden, with a hoodie and a mask, waited on the building's rooftop. Chloe and Sara arrived, and they were ready to go. Aiden noticed Sara's hair sticking out of her hoodie, so he adjusted it to hide it better. They exchanged an awkward look, and then Sara urged them to move on. Chloe chuckled which lead Sara to say "shut up let's go now".



On their mysterious midnight escapade, Aiden, Sara, and Chloe found themselves joined by unexpected companions: Peter, Macy, and Kevin. Aiden couldn't help but inquire about their sudden appearance. Kevin's response was simple but heartfelt, "Do you really think, after all that's happened, I'd let you go alone?" Aiden couldn't help but smile, knowing he had friends who cared for his well-being.

However, Macy's curiosity was piqued about Chloe's inclusion. She voiced concerns about the new girl, not knowing much about her and feeling uneasy about involving her in their potentially dangerous mission. Peter, on the other hand, had a more light-hearted perspective, suggesting that Chloe's presence was justified simply because she was pretty which lead Chloe to give him an awkward look.

As they continued on their journey, Aiden took the opportunity to get to know Chloe better. He was genuinely interested in her background and wanted to understand why she had decided to join their mission. Aiden asked Chloe where she was from, and her answer took him by surprise: Tokyo, Japan. His eyes widened in amazement, and he couldn't hide his admiration for her connection to Japan. Aiden admitted his lifelong desire to visit Japan, and he found himself drawn to Chloe's intriguing background. Japan had always held a special place in his heart, and he felt a unique connection with someone who hailed from there.



In the midst of their midnight expedition, Aiden experienced a peculiar sensation. For just a brief moment, he felt as though he had glimpsed a pair of mesmerizing green eyes. This sensation was so fleeting that he couldn't be entirely certain of what he had perceived. Nevertheless, it was enough to make him pause abruptly in his tracks, causing his companions to turn their attention towards him.

With a furrowed brow and a sense of anticipation in his voice, Aiden uttered, "I sensed something." His words hung in the air, shrouded in an aura of mystery, leaving his friends curious and slightly on edge. Aiden's intuition hinted at something extraordinary lurking in the shadows.

Peter's keen sense of smell picked up on something unusual, and he promptly informed the group. Everyone soon detected the peculiar odor that lingered in the air. Aiden's voice cut through the night, his words laden with a haunting memory, "That's the same smell I sensed when my dad was found dead in my house." The revelation sent shivers down their spines.

With a sense of urgency, they rushed towards the library. Arriving at the scene, they noticed an open window. Aiden, consumed by his determination to unravel the mystery, attempted to leap through the building to reach the library as quickly as possible which left him with bruises on his hands, but he paid them no mind. However, Sara intervened, grabbing his hand and urging him to reconsider his reckless actions.



Kevin, contributing a more practical approach, suggested they use a rope he had brought in his bag along to access the library. They asked him why he is carrying a rope in his bag, he said "you have no idea what else I have in my bad". Sara advised Aiden to be more careful, Aiden reluctantly agreed to Sara's wise advice but still couldn't meet her gaze.

They all ascended to the roof, except for Macy. She had a perilous slip, but Kevin's quick reflexes saved her from injury. In the aftermath, Macy couldn't help but comment on Kevin's odor, she asked him "why do you stink so much?". Kevin responded "maybe your momma licked me" which went unnoticed by Macy, who remained silent.
