"Take a seat."
I sat on the opposite chair she was sitting on. I gazed around at the small coffee shop. It has cute and aesthetic furniture. I heard that the Miller family owned this one. Taylor Swift's song is currently playing on the speaker.
"What do you want to talk about?" I asked, I couldn't hold back my irritation.
I hate that we had the same eyes. I looked away when her red lips smiled a little. She flipped another page of the menu and spoke.
"Do you like macchiato or matcha?"
I rolled my eyes in the air. "Can we just get straight to the point?"
"I want to ask an apology, Amara." she put the menu on the table.
"Given what happened to my Dad, I think that's impossible, Doña Lonie." I plainly said to her.
She clasped both of her hands and placed them at the top of the table.
"When Alora met Morgan I was scared that she might end up like me. Natak-"
She wasn't able to finish her tale when I snapped my fingers in front of her. "I have no time for a summary. Again, can we just get straight to the point?"
She pursed her lips. She shut me by just looking into my eyes. I breathed in the air and looked away. How could she act like that when I'm mad?
My tightened grip inside my pocket as I felt shivers when she called me 'that' as if she had considered my existence before.
I almost chuckled when I remembered the way she looked at me when I was a child.
I slowly turned to her. Pain is vivid in her emerald eyes. But what does she mean iba si Daddy sa ama niya?
"Yes, he was ill because of working too much. He had tuberculosis, right?
She breathed in the air and stared outside the cafe. "Morgan had a cancer, hija."
I stared at her in disbelief. My lips parted and a lot of questions gathered inside my head. But Daddy said he had tuberculosis. He didn't mention he had cancer. I shook my head at her.
How could this old woman lie in front of me?
"You're lying!" my voice broke. Tears poured through her eyes.
"We tried to save him. No, Alora tried to save him but it was too late." she slid a short envelope in front of me.
"Why are you telling this to me?" naguguluhan akong napatitig sa kaniya.
I feel so tired right now.
It's okay to feel exasperated towards me because of what I did to you and your father pero ayaw kung magalit ka kay Alora, Amara. She sacrificed everything for you, and I hope you still have room for forgiveness for your mother."
