"Congratulations, Architect Gutierrez. Job well done!"
My heart warms as I stare at the first building I designed in San Francisco. It was a huge subdivision, and the owner wanted a Victorian style. I can't believe I made it this far.I have to be honest that I was stressed during the construction of this site. I had to consider multiple designs para magandahan ang may-ari at ngayon, masarap sa pakiramdam na nakikita ko ang mga designs kong nakatayo.
The subdivision is divided into three portions. The first portion is filled with victorian houses with a medium-sized yard. The second portion has a cafe and tea shop. It also has a huge oval pool in the middle. The third portion has a chapel and a park.
"This would not become possible if you didn't show your full support, Mr. Collins. Thank you for giving me this opportunity. I'm glad I am part of this."The satisfaction I felt tripled. At last, I can finally go back to Los Angeles. I can finally clear my schedule for next week. Then next-next week, trabaho na ulit. The firm was hectic, but I deserve a break.
We all deserve a break.
I clicked my car key and hopped inside my car. I would be driving for five hours until I reached the ground in LA. I drank my bubble tea to keep my eyes open. But I don't think I need to worry about that since this guy called me."Yes?" I rolled my eyes at him when I saw his grin.
"Are you going home now, honey?" I shook my head at him.He has been calling me since then, and he always asks the same question.
"Brandon, can you ask me another question aside from that?" I stopped when the traffic lights turned red.He pulled his hair upward. "What time are you coming home? I miss you, honey."
"I think I'll get there by nine?"
"Hmm," he nodded, placing his phone on the table.I could see the azure beach in his background. I miss the sea. It felt like ages since I last touched the water.
Ganito na pala pag may trabaho, madalang mo nalang magagawa ang gusto mo. Hindi na ako nakakapag surf and party. Because when you get your job, you'll realize that it's time for you to commit. You'll start to know what your priorities are, and you'll start to be torn between fulfilling your desires and doing what's convenient.
I had already spent two hours driving. I checked the screen of my phone and saw Brandon sleeping on the hammock. I chuckled. I thought he was going to watch me so I wouldn't fall asleep.
He must be tired of planning the building for his client in the Philippines. He is an engineer, and I'm glad we made it together to come this far. I thought I wouldn't get up on my knees after everything that happened for the last five years.I shook my head to forget about what happened. It still hurts, but what has happened has already happened. It will not change and will never be.
I was right when I said I'd be in L.A. by nine. I went to a small shop and bought scented floating candles. I wanted to celebrate it with that person first. The one who pushed me to do well and the one who would always remind me that I could do it.
I went to the shore and lit the flower candles. The small waves were pushing it into the deep blue sea."Hey Morgan," I whispered, tears forming in my eyes. "What did you feel when you saw your first designed building? Were you happy like me? Did it excite you?"
I sat on the thin sand and shook my head. I could imagine how he would scratch his head at how stubborn I was.
"Fine, I was just curious." bawi ko. "Because I am so happy right now. I wish you'd see them too. I wish you saw my sleepless nights, my hair never being brushed, my tears because of pressure, and also my tears of joy."I've been curious about how it feels to see your parents watching you doing your job. But one thing I was sure about. He is proud of me.
"I miss you," I smiled at the candles; some were already melting in the water.
I waited for the candles to melt before going to my house. Auntie Elaine must be waiting for me because I know Brandon has told her I'm coming home. But when I got there, the house was dark.
