Chapter 16

It was already a semestral break after a week. Dinalaw ko si Daddy sa cemetery dahil halos nawalan ako ng oras sa kaniya last month. I spent my time with the wrong person.

That two-timer dick.

I put the calla lily at the top of his tomb. There are two candles with a light on them and fresh mixed flowers with the color of white and blue placed on his tomb. Baka dumalaw nanaman ang mga kaibigan ni Daddy.

Ang dami kasing bulaklak na nakapaligid sa nitso nito kahit matagal na akong walang dalaw. There was no hint of dried leaves in this area and I smiled because I could feel how important my father was to them.

Matapos kong mag dasal ay napahinto ako nang may makitang sasakyan. Hinintay kong may lumabas dito at natigilan ako ng makita ang pamilyar na tao. It was Samuel. As usual, he was wearing his varsity shirt.

"Uy," he mumbled when he saw me.

He was hesitant to go to my side but in the end, he stood beside me. He lighted a candle and placed the white flower beside it.

"Pasensya na tito, busy lang." I waited for him to finish his prayers before I spoke to him.

"How are you?" I asked him.

He smiled at me. "Walang pinagbago. Hindi pa rin pinipili."

My mouth was slightly opened while looking at him. I don't know what to say. There was pain in his tone and I didn't know how to comfort him. I have not seen him since I started to hang out with Lucien. I thought he would stop doing his sports but I couldn't see him during our classes.

"Biro lang," he chuckled after a few minutes of silence. "Halos isang buwan din tayong hindi nagkita ah?"

"Oo, hindi kana pumapasok." he replied with a smile but pain was visible in his eyes.

"Is there something wrong, Samuel?" I couldn't stop myself from asking. I'm a bit concerned. Baka pagod na siya sa training.

"Wala lang 'to, Sadie."

We parted ways after he dropped me outside my boarding house. He smiled at me before starting his car. He was gloomy today. Ganun si Matteo kapag may problema. Ang kaibahan ngalang ay naglalasing ang isang yon habang si Samuel ay dinadaan niya ang nararamdaman sa tipid na ngiti.

When I reached my room, I messaged Darcy, Matteo, and Mathilda. I was just checking on them. Matagal ko na silang hindi nakikita. Unang nag reply si Darcy. Iniinggit pa ako dahil nag out of town daw sila ni Austin. Yong isang magjowa naman paniguradong nag out of town din ang mga 'yon.

I breathe in the air. One month ang semestral break at iniisip ko kung anong gagawin ko aside sa session namin ni Vile. And speaking of that teenager. She called me.

"Come on, Sadie. Partying is not bad. Stop sulking in your room, make some time to chill! Christmas is coming, hello!"

"Tinatamad ako," I reasoned out.

"Aw, that's a common reaction of your body because you haven't seen Lucien for a long time." she teased and I rolled my eyes.

"I'll try."

"You're coming because kuya already booked a hotel room for us!" I breathe in the air while staring at this teenager through my phone.

She looked like she didn't have a friend that she had to drag a woman older than her. "Move Sadie, mag impake na tayo."

When she ended the call I shook my head in disbelief. Sabagay wala naman natutuloy kapag nakaplano. Tingnan mo yung plano ni Lucien na liligawan ako naudlot.
