During the time Kazan was at the hospital, undergoing magical treatment from Nathaniel, there was an ongoing meeting inside the throne room of the Azure Pack palace between the elders and other top officials. Sovereign Sabre Red was also present as a special guest. The discussion they were having was about the future of the pack. But the main topic was who would reign as the next sovereign should Kazan succumb to his conditions.
Elder Richardson, a sturdy-built late-thirties male, has proposed that Kazan's older brother Kizaro is the only suitable candidate for the role of the new sovereign. In his mind and that of many others, Kizaro is the rightful heir and the most qualified. Just what was the previous sovereign thinking, choosing his immature brat of a young son to be the sovereign?
Of course, some were against this idea due to the coup that took place last year. They also don't want to anger Elder Dorian, who was not invited to this abrupt and sudden meeting—or Elder Flounder, who is currently away from the pack. Many others, however—especially Alton. They backed Richardson's proposal. It's been their goal to make Kazan's older brother sovereign. And now the opportunity has presented itself.
Sovereign Sabre Red, on the other hand, wasn't the least bit interested. But if Kazan dies and Kizaro becomes sovereign, he was promised the part of the Azure Pack territory that he's been eyeing for decades now. And in return, he will strengthen ties with the Azure Pack and let his daughter marry Kizaro. Of course, if Danica knows about this, she will be against it, but it's not her decision to make.
And while they argued back and forth over this matter, an informant came barging in without permission, notifying them about Kazan being seen in good health leaving his home half an hour ago.
Note: Dorian and his warriors had put the hospital Kazan was in under tight security immediately after the visit of Elder Alton last night. None of the elders or higher-ups were allowed to receive information regarding the sovereign's health status. Therefore, everyone present was clueless to what was taking place on the inside and the outside.
"What? Are you telling the truth?" Alton collared the informant. There is no way that Brat can survive that deadly elixir.
"Yes Elder." The informant stuttered. Alton released him and ordered him to leave.
At that moment, Elder Dorian and Kazan came marching in. Kazan, though his heart was full of fury, greeted all the elders and higher-ups. Some greeted him back out of respect and were happy to see that he was doing well. Others, like Elder Richardson and Alton, were not only surprised to see him alive but also very angry.
They were puzzled as to how Kazan was still alive. But they had to mask their true feelings with a smile. And Kazan enjoyed the look on their wretched faces. He would be more satisfied if he could kill them with his own hands for conspiring to kill him not once but twice. However, their displeasure is satisfying for now. Besides, playing judge and executioner is not why he's here.
"Young sovereign." Alton feigned a smile. "I'm pleased that you are alive and well."
"Is that why you are all here, planning to replace me with my brother?" Kazan retorted.
"Of course not." Elder Richardson was the one to respond. "But if you should pass away, heaven forbid, without an heir, your brother would be the sole heir to the Azure pack. It's nothing personal. We were just looking out for the future of the Azure pack."
"Well, as you can see, I'm alive and in good health. As for an heir, I'm still young and full of life. There will be plenty of time for getting kids in the future." Future? Leah is pregnant with his pup right now. Just the thought of that excites him. He can't wait for his little one to come into this world.
"Of course." Alton laughed to lessen the tension in the atmosphere. "If you don't mind me asking, how did you end up in such a critical condition in the first place? And how did you recover?"
"It doesn't matter." Kazan faked a smile. This old bastard was pretending to be concerned about his well-being when he probably plotted to have him killed. And though he knows Leah would not die because of her incredible bloodline, what if she wasn't extraordinary? With his death, both she and his kid would have died. He wants this bastard dead. "I'm alright now. That's all that matters. I'm here for another reason." He then cleared his throat before announcing, "I hereby annul the marriage proposal between myself and Princess Danica."
"What?" Alton seemed as if he was about to have a meltdown. "You will do no such thing."
"Well, it's a good thing this is not your decision to make," Kazan stated sternly. "I've already made up my mind. And it's done."
"Are you sure you want to do this?" asked sovereign Sabre Red, who was not only angry but humiliated by this brat sovereign's announcement.
"Was I not clear about this?" Kazan is worried over the safety of his pack, but whatever comes next, he will tackle it head-on.
"You not only humiliate my daughter, but you dare insult me like this brat!"
"It's not my intention to do so. It's just that Danica does not qualify to be my wife."
"My daughter is of royal bloodline, of a high-level pack. You're the one who does not qualify to be her husband." The angry sovereign Sabre Red roared.
"Exactly, then there should be no issue with me annulling this marriage."
"You brat!" sovereign Sabre Red seized Kazan's throat, and immediately after, Dorian not only rescued his young sovereign but also attacked sovereign Sabre Red. Fortunately for the Sabre Red sovereign, a teen blocked the attack.
"You have guts attacking my sovereign while I'm present," Dorian voiced angrily. "Do you have a death wish?"
