Rain was hitting against the window in front of me, yet it didn't sound harsh. It was a soft pattering of rain drops, which brought comfort. I was sat on the window ceil, sipping a small glass of hot cocoa admiring the rain fall against the window. I was a tiny now, sure, but it didn't bother me. It still had that cozy feeling.
A few moments past as I continued to drink my coco before I finished it completely and set it to the side. The world was so different now that I was smaller.. Everything was so much larger than myself that it was overwhelming at times.. but in moments like these, it was comforting.
Slowly, I felt my eyes begin to close and I began to drift off.
"Falling asleep are we?" A voice startled me out of my sleepy stage and I twirled my head around to see my friend, Miles behind me. I flashed him a smile before he gently wrapped a small blanket around my shoulders.
"A little.. It's been a long day." I explained, gripping the edges of the blanket to snuggle into it as Miles leaned down, resting his arms on the window ceil behind me. I threw the blanket over my head as well, like a cloak.
"Are you wanting to head to bed early tonight?" He asked as he ran a finger down my back, then gently rubbing in circles.
"Ahh.. I mean yes, but at the same time not really." I said through a yawn. He just chuckled at my response before standing straight once more and gently scooping me up off the window ceil.
"You're adorable."
Instantly my face was flushed and I couldn't help but look away .
He chuckled slightly before using a finger to tilt my head toward his direction. A slight smile rested on his face as his eyes bore down on me. It was only moments later that he then lifted me up closer to his face, gently planting a kiss a top my head.
I lost my ability to react or speak or really anything but breathe.
He just kissed me..
That hadn't ever happened before.
"What was that for-?" I asked as Miles sat on the bed, gently lowering me to one of the pillows.
"What? Didn't like it?"
"It's not that -" My words felt like they were doing cartwheels right alongside my heart and my brain. He turned to me with a furrowed eyebrow, getting under the covers.
"It was so random I guess.." I muttered sheepishly, finding it difficult to maintain eye contact. Miles' smile softened as did his whole expression.
"Nah. It's not random if you think about it." He started, reaching for me. "You're so oblivious sometimes."
His hand wrapped around my waist and he pulled me closer to him, near enough for his breath to brush through my hair.
"I love you, you do realize this correct?" Miles spoke softly.
My heart skipped a beat at those words. Was I really that oblivious?
"Even before I was this small?" I asked. Those butterfly feelings were still present but they began to slowly drift off, being replaced with a feeling of comfort and safety.
"Way before."
