The world shook, but Alice was safe.

He pulled his knees a bit closer to his chest as he curled up against Freyja. He closed his eyes and shadowed her breathing–his breath in tandem with the very movement of the “ground” beneath him. All he could think of was the warmth of her and the feeling of her pocket’s fabric against his skin. There was an odd thrill that flooded his senses–the knowledge of someone so grand loving someone so small. He giggled softly as he felt her heart speed up as he readjusted–his own flustered heart quivered in time with Freyja’s footsteps.

His fingers curled a bit tighter around the fabric as he buried his face into her–his cheeks ached from how much he smiled.

The footsteps stopped. Through closed eyelids, Alice spied light peering in from above. He cracked an eye and smiled up at the face that looked at him. Freyja’s grin widened as his gaze met her’s.

“Still doin’ okay in there, babe?” she asked–her voice warm, low, and soft.

Alice blushed. “I’m on cloud nine–how ‘bout you, lovey?”

“Couldn’t be better,” Freyja cooed. Her gaze lingered as a loving hum rumbled through Alice’s body. She blushed and chuckled. “We’re almost there–you still good to ride in my pocket for the rest of the way?”

“Oh absoluuuuutely,” he purred as he yawned. “Wouldn’t have it any other way…”

“Me neither.” She closed the pocket with a wink. Before Alice could react, Freyja placed a hand over him–gently holding him even closer, so he could feel the thundering of her heart.
