Chicago, IL

Devale

It's been a day since Crystal left and went back to Tennessee. I stayed I Chicago to stay away from all the negative energy. We don't need to be fighting around DJ. However, I can't just stay in Chicago forever without properly ending things; all for nothing, she has our son and we have to share him.

I don't know where Crystal and I go from here. Zena and I were never in a relationship. I didn't tell Crystal the depth of our relationship because she was already going through so much and I didn't want to cause any more damage. I thought if I'd left it in the past and moved on, Zena would do the same thing. I don't know how Crystal found out the details but clearly, someone is talking too much.

"Thank you for letting me stay here. I really appreciate it." I told Lance as we met in the kitchen.

"Yeah no problem," Lance said shaking his head. "I hope everything works out." He says.

"I hope so too. I feel bad about some of the shit I did." I tell my friend. "Look bottom line is Zena and should've never been as close as we were. J disrespected you and I disrespected Crystal." I say making Lance sigh.

He put his coffee mug down and looked at me.

"I loved Zena. I wanted to be with her at some point but that woman has some issues to work through." Lance said. "Things only went far with you two because you gave her the attention that she's been craving. The attention morris and I stopped giving to her." Lance said shrugging his shoulders.

He's right. I haven't seen or heard anything about Morris and Zena. I guess he's really don't with the drama and wants to grow up. I heard he came back to work at the hospital after I left. I'm not shocked. We were becoming low staffed.

"You need to focus on yourself, your son, and your wife. Leave Chicago and all it's mess behind. It's no good for you." Lance said as his phone started ringing. "I gotta take this." He said before stepping out the kitchen.

I took a long relaxing breath and leaned against the counter with my arms folded. Thoughts ran through my head so fast that I couldn't keep up. I closed my eyes and tried to figure out a way to make this right.

[ZENA'S HOUSE]

KNOCK. KNOCK. KNOCK.

I stood back and waited for the door to open. It might've not been a good idea to come see Zena but if I want to end this before it even starts I have to get to the root of the issue. Zena.

The door opened and I looked up.

"Can I help you?" A unfamiliar woman asked looking at me confused.

"I'm here to see Zena. My name is Devale." I tell the woman.

She then had a lightbulb moment and smiled brightly.

"Oh Devale! Shit. Come on in." She said opening the door for me.

I looked the younger woman up and down one more time before coming in.

"Zena is upstairs getting out the shower but I'll go tell her you're here." She said before walking away.

She jogged upstairs and left me alone in the living room. I started looking around the house.
