knock.knock.knock.

I knocked on Crystal's door, while shaking my head. Just last week I was able to get in the house. This time when I went to use my key it didn't work. She never mentioned anything about changing the locks but then again she doesn't talk to me.

Back in Chicago I have living arrangements with Zena. It's been going good. She's at work most of the time so we only see each other in passing. Not even long enough to hold a conversation.

"What are you doing here?" Crystal asked as the door opened.

"I'm here to see my son." I said crossing my arms.

"You should've called."

"You blocked my number." I remind her.

"Oh yeah." She said. "Come in." She said letting me in.

I sighed and walked into the house I bought. It amazes me how much I've done to change for Crystal and because one mistake, one lie, she's locked me out of our home. The home we've put some much into building.

"How have you been?" I ask Crystal.

She ignored my question and walked to the stairs.

"DJ! Your dad is here!" She called out.

A few seconds later my son was coming down the stairs. Inches taller, fuller curls, his changes made me feel like time was flying by.

"Daddy!" He said jumping up to meet me for a hug

"Daddy!" He said jumping up to meet me for a hug.

"Hey boy." I said kissing his forehead. "Where did this come from?" I ask rubbing his head.

He laughed and wrapped his arms around my neck.

"Daddy I wanna go with you." He said softly.

"I gotta figure some things out and then you can come home with me and spend the night. We can watch basketball and go to the movies. Whatever you want." I tell him.

"Okay." He said before walking to the kitchen.

Crystal followed him and so I did the same. I sat down at the island and watched her find something to clean.

"I miss you." I confess to her.

"I miss you too." She whispered.

My eyes widened. I wasn't expecting that response.

"So why'd you block me?"I ask her.

"I miss you but I'm not ready to talk about it. Actually, I don't want to talk to about it. Not to you not to anyone." She said shaking her head.
