St James's Park
Crowley and Aziraphale found themselves on a familiar bench beside the serene lake in St James's Park. The weather was pleasant, and the park was bustling with people enjoying their leisurely afternoon. Despite the seemingly ordinary setting, there was nothing typical about these two celestial beings who had an uncanny ability to blend in with the humans.
Crowley sat upright with perfect posture, his sunglasses shielding his eyes from the sun's rays. Aziraphale, on the other hand, slouched on the bench, his bowtie slightly askew, watching the ducks on the lake.
Curiosity got the better of Crowley as he leaned in towards Aziraphale, asking in a hushed tone, "Anyone watching?"
Aziraphale cast a furtive glance around, then placed his hands gently on his temples, closing his eyes to focus on his celestial senses. After a moment, he opened his eyes and turned to Crowley, shaking his head. "Nobody."
Crowley couldn't help but grin at the news. He extended his hand toward Aziraphale, saying, "Right. Swap back, then."
Aziraphale, with a mischievous smile, placed his hand in Crowley's. As they made contact, their disguises shifted and changed, like a seamless dance of celestial energy. In a matter of moments, the transformation was complete. Crowley found himself reclining on the bench with an air of nonchalance, stretching his hand. While Aziraphale stretched his neck, straightened his clothes and adjusted his now perfectly-tied bowtie. The transformation was complete, and they settled back on the bench in their original forms.
As they resumed their original personas, the peaceful ambience of the park enveloped them. However, a sudden splash from the lake interrupted their moment of tranquillity. Curiosity piqued, they turned their heads in unison to see the ripples spreading across the water.
In the heart of the lake, Y/N had been unceremoniously sent back to Earth from the depths of Hell. She broke the water's surface with a gasp, disoriented and struggling to stay afloat. Panic surged through her as she thrashed against the water, her clothes clinging to her like lead weights. Y/N splashed in the water, struggling to swim toward the shore, her strength and willpower driving her onward.
Crowley and Aziraphale exchanged a look of disbelief, their eyes widening as they realised the source of the commotion. They immediately recognised the figure in the water. Without hesitation, they both leapt from the bench and rushed to the shore of the lake.
Y/N managed to reach the edge of the lake, her strength waning. She pulled herself out of the water, panting and shivering from the cold. As she looked up and saw Crowley and Aziraphale approaching, her first instinct was to disguise the scars that marred her celestial form. With a subtle miracle, she concealed the marks, ensuring they wouldn't see the evidence of her ordeal.
Crowley and Aziraphale reached Y/N's side, concern etched on their faces. They extended their hands to help her up. Aziraphale used his divine power to miraculously dry her, and together, they supported her to her feet. Y/N leaned on her friends for support as they guided her to a nearby bench.
As Y/N settled onto the bench, her body began to relax, and her emotions overwhelmed her. Aziraphale, ever the compassionate angel, checked on her well-being, ensuring her injuries were tended to. With a warm, healing touch, he mended her wounds, her pain slowly subsiding.
Overcome with concern, Crowley pulled Y/N close to him, wrapping his arms around her protectively. He could see the lingering traces of pain and distress in her eyes and couldn't help but worry for her well-being. His snake eyes were filled with concern as he asked, "What happened to you, Y/N?"
She sighed, her voice steady despite the lingering pain. With a weak but reassuring smile, Y/N began to recount her experiences. "Death took me to Heaven first," she explained. "I had a 'chat' with Gabriel, who wasn't too pleased with me. Then Death whisked me off to Hell to speak to my brother, and, well, they didn't exactly roll out the welcome mat."
Crowley and Aziraphale, who had been watching Y/N with worried expressions, exchanged a shocked glance. "You're alright now, though?" Crowley inquired, his voice filled with genuine concern.
Y/N nodded, a small, reassuring smile tugging at her lips. "I'm fine, really. No need to worry." Her strength and resilience were evident, even after the horrors she had endured.
Y/N, though, couldn't help but be curious about the strange behaviour of her celestial companions. She glanced between Crowley and Aziraphale, raising an eyebrow. "What about you two? You've been acting rather... weird. Anything I should know?"
Aziraphale cleared his throat, exchanging a sheepish look with Crowley. "Well, you see, the prophecy said we'd swap faces, so we did just that."
Crowley nodded in agreement. "Yes, and we went to our respective workplaces where our bosses tried to destroy us."
Y/N, shocked but not entirely surprised by the revelation, sighed. "I had a feeling Heaven and Hell wouldn't be thrilled with what we did, but outright destruction?" She shook her head, realising the gravity of the situation.
Aziraphale chimed in, attempting to lighten the mood, "I asked them for a rubber duck and made the Archangel Michael miracle me a towel!" He grinned, his eyes twinkling with mischief.
Y/N and Crowley burst into laughter at the absurdity of it all. As the laughter subsided, Y/N suggested, "Right. Time to leave the garden."
Crowley turned to his companions with a wicked glint in his eye. "Let me tempt you to a spot of lunch?"
Aziraphale chuckled, mimicking a robotic voice, "Temptation accomplished."
The trio shared a hearty laugh, and Y/N suggested, "How about the Ritz."
Aziraphale, mischief dancing in his eyes, added, "I believe a table for three has miraculously come free."
With a chuckle, they rose from the bench and headed to Crowley's sleek black car, ready to embark on another adventure, their bond stronger than ever.
