4004 B.C., "just after the beginning"
In the realm between the ethereal and the earthly, where the boundaries of time and space blurred into a shimmering tapestry, which many called Heaven, Y/n and God herself observed a peculiar scene. Below, in the heart of a pristine garden, bathed in the soft, golden light of Eden, stood two unlikely companions: Aziraphale, the celestial guardian of the Eastern Gate, and Crawley, the Serpent of Eden, a cunning demon who had once dwelled in the shadows.
Adam and Eve had just been banished from the garden, their innocence lost to the temptation of the serpent, their fate forever altered. Yet, Aziraphale and Crawley remained, perched upon the mossy wall that surrounded the paradise, their presence an enigma amidst the aftermath of divine decisions.
Y/n, with her iridescent wings gently rustling, looked down upon the duo. Aziraphale, with his pristine white attire and softly glowing aura, appeared conflicted, a mixture of sadness and empathy in his eyes. On the other hand, Crawley, standing casually upon the wall with his snake-like eyes and darkly enigmatic charm, exuded an air of mischief.
The angel gazed down upon the wily serpent, her heart full of love for the demon. She felt giddy at the sight of him, as she drank in his features, her eyes full of adoration. She longed to descend from the Heavens and declare her affection to the cunning demon. It was forbidden, she knew that, but deep down, she yearned for him. Y/n, God's most trusted and favoured angel, who had spent eons serving the divine and weaving the tapestry of galaxies, had but one secret locked within the depths of her heart.
God, her presence a radiant and all-encompassing warmth, spoke to Y/n. "What do you make of this, dear angel? Two beings who should be polar opposites, yet they stand together in this moment of human vulnerability."
Y/n, her voice filled with reverence, replied, "It is a testament to the power of free will, my Lady. Despite their celestial origins, Aziraphale and Crawley have chosen to embrace humanity's capacity for friendship."
As they listened, the conversation between Aziraphale and Crawley drifted up to their celestial ears. Words of regret and longing, of understanding and compassion, filled the air like the sweet scent of blooming flowers. The angel returned her gaze to the fallen angel below. Y/n's heart quickened at the sight of him, her love for him hidden in the depths of her soul.
God, the all-seeing and all-knowing, recognized the turmoil in Y/n's heart, the conflict between her duty as an angel and her secret affection for a demon. God's voice, like the rumbling of thunder, echoed in the room.
"Y/n," she spoke, her presence enveloping the angel in a radiant light.
Y/n turned, tearing her gaze from the demon, her eyes widening in fear and awe. "My Lord," she whispered, her wings trembling.
God's gaze held a mixture of sadness and determination. "You harbor a love for the demon Crawley, a love that goes against the very essence of your celestial nature. Love should be pure, devoted to the divine and the creation of life, it should not be tainted by darkness."
Tears welled up in Y/n's eyes as she lowered her head in shame. "I am sorry, my Lord. I never meant for this to happen."
God's voice remained stern. "Love between angels and demons is an abomination. It defies the order of the cosmos and threatens the harmony of my creation."
With a sorrowful sigh, God extended a hand, and a rift in the heavens opened, revealing a blinding light. "Y/n, you must leave this paradise. Your love for the demon has cast a shadow over your purity. You are no longer welcome in Heaven."
Y/n's heart shattered as she was launched into a freefall from Heaven, her wings now bereft of their celestial light. As she hurtled to the earthly realm, the pure white feathers of Y/n's wings sloughed off, replaced with oily black ones that seemed to consume all light. She was an outcast, her love for Crawley forever forbidden, her angelic nature forever tainted.
......
As Crawley and Aziraphale continued to talk, their attention was drawn to the heavens above. The celestial realm was filled with a brilliance that rivaled the sun, but this radiance was tinged with a sense of foreboding.
Aziraphale, his angelic wings a soft and shimmering white, squinted at the celestial display. "What do you suppose is happening up there?"
Crawley, standing on the wall with a nonchalant air, his demonic eyes a shade of eerie yellow, glanced upward. "Beats me, angel. Probably some celestial politics or other."
A distant rumble of celestial thunder echoed through the heavens, and the sky above Eden darkened, as if a tempest was gathering. As they continued to watch, a blinding light streaked across the sky, like a falling star on a collision course with Earth. An angelic figure plummeted, their once-gleaming wings now shrouded in shadows. It descended with alarming speed, casting a fiery trail behind it. The earth shook with the impact, and a plume of dust and debris rose in the distance.
"Looks like someone's late to the party." Crawley mused, staring at the cloud of quickly dissipating dust on the horizon.
......
Y/n crashed onto the earthly ground, her impact causing a tremor that reverberated through the garden. She lay there, dazed and bereft, her once-pristine white robes now tarnished by the earthly soil.
As she landed upon the earthly soil, her celestial essence extinguished, Y/n's form was transformed into that of a mortal woman. Her wings, once a radiant cascade of feathers, were replaced by a pair of fragile, mortal limbs. Her eyes, which had once beheld the divine mysteries of the universe, now gazed upon the earthly realm with newfound wonder and vulnerability.
With each passing moment, her memories of heaven faded like distant stars, leaving only a lingering sense of loss and longing. She awoke in a world she could not fully comprehend, surrounded by humans who sensed nothing of her celestial origins.
Yet, in the quiet depths of her heart, she retained a fragment of her celestial essence, a spark of longing that called to her from the heavenly stars above.
.......
Unbeknownst to Crawley, who continued to talk to the angel on the wall, Y/n's banishment marked a tragic chapter in their celestial love story. In the end, it was a love that defied not only the laws of heaven but the very essence of their celestial beings, leaving Y/n to navigate the complex terrain of love and loyalty in a world far removed from the paradise she once knew.
And so, in the aftermath of humanity's fall from grace, amidst the banished souls and the lost innocence, Aziraphale and Crawley forged an unexpected bond that would echo through the ages.
