As Kane rounded up his men, he couldn't keep his mind off of Josette.

"You need to talk to her," Cecil said as they worked the perimeter to keep it secure, "Before I take her."

"Take her and do what exactly?" Kane seethed.

Cecil chuckled, "Oh, come on, Chaos. I see how you look at her—when you're with her. Hell, it's been three days and you're damn smitten with the woman! I've never seen you like this! That shit you pulled with Maribel? You knew she'd come and find you..."

"I didn't know."

"Liar," Cecil sighed, "That backfired on ya, didn't it? How far were you gonna go with Maribel before you were caught?"

"I wasn't caught," Kane told him, flatly as he ordered his men to scour the forest and find a place for them to settle for the night, "I'm not with Josette so how was I caught? We're not an item—I don't owe her a damn thing."

Cecil smiled, "Maybe not, but you going after her and trying to make amends? That's not the Chaos Dempsey I know. She's got you by the balls."

"Fuck off and get these men fed," Kane said as she shifted into his red wolf form before sprinting off into the darkness of the woods.

"Where is he going?" Josette asked as she came up behind Cecil.

"To cool off," Cecil told her, "Are your sisters alright?"

Josette nodded, "Yes, we're hungry, but nothing a little nibble won't fix. Thank you, Cecil."

She turned in the direction of where Kane had run off to.

"You're going after him," Cecil tilted his head and smirked, "Why?"

Josette smiled, "He can't get away from me that easily."

Cecil stepped in front of her, "Why do you want to go after him, though?"

Josette gazed up at Cecil—his dark features and wavy brown hair—really had an effect on Josette, but not as much as the way Kane looked at her.

Kane had shifted back into flesh form about a mile from the caravan. He'd been stupid to give in to Maribel's ways and how she spoke to him about Josette just turned him off. There was no reason to bring her up, but yet Maribel's jealousy had weaseled it's way into their lives.

He looked back to see if Josette had followed him, but she hadn't. This time it was Kane who'd found himself up in the tree to be alone with his own thoughts.

"Kane means well. He's been this way his whole life—especially around women," Cecil said as he and Josette made their way back to their groups, "He's young—like you and having fun—as you should be."

Josette smiled. She wasn't trying to be boring or broody and she certainly didn't want to take her frustrations out on Kane.

"Honestly,Maribel's more his type.."

"What? Maribel?"

"Sure. She's wild and free—coming on to him as strongly as she did just shows me she's right up his alley."

"Oh," Josette's heart sank, but she wasn't sure why, "Well, no matter. I guess we'll be out of this journey and on to our old lives again, yeah?"

"Yeah," Cecil put his arm around her as they walked along the permeter, "Would you like to dine with me in my carriage?"

Josette smiled, "I'd be delighted."

Cecil escorted her into his carriage as the other members of his pack watched. Of course they would. She was in heat and they could practically taste it.

"Did you grow up with all of them?"Josette asked as she and Cecil sat together in his carriage, Cecil pouring some wine and making sure Josette took her fill before he placed any food on his plate.

"Yes, Kane is actually like a brother to me," Cecil said, "He has two younger brothers, but they aren't as close to me as Kane is."

Josette sighed, "Enough talk about Kane. What do you like to do for fun? Are you also an Alpha?"

Cecil chuckled, "I'm a Beta..."

"You don't act like a beta," Josette flirted. She wasn't very good at it, but she tried anyway.

"I'm the 'one you don't want to talk abouts' right hand man," Cecil told her, "And you will be mother witch one day?"

"I will," Josette said, "I don't want that to be too soon. Devonia would have to leave us and I love her like a mother."

"I understand that," Cecil said, "More wine?"

"Oh, yes.." Josette could already feel her head swimming with the rush of alcohol, but it was soothing her, "You have such nice hair."

Cecil laughed, "As do you. I love red headed women."

Josette blushed, "I really shouldn't be drinking so much..I have my duties to tend to."

"And you have Keira for that.."

"I do.." Josette said as Cecil leaned closer to her, "Cecil.."

"You're such a beautiful woman, Josette,"Cecil told her, "I want to make love to you."

"Make...love...?" Josette hiccupped, "Alright..."

Cecil was practically salivating when Josette started to take off her clothes. She was just about to lift her skirts when Cecil stoppped her.

"No, we can't.." he dropped his head and helped her back up in a seated position, "As much as I want to, you're not in the right mind. I,-"

The door on Cecil's side flew open and a very aggravated and very angry Maribel pulled Cecil out of the carriage.

"What are you doing to her?! She doesn't want you!" Maribel—as much as he disliked anyone excluding her small group of friends in the coven—didn't want to see Josette be taken advantage of, "She's been drinking! You got her drunk?"

"What the fuck?!"Kane pounced back into the path and grabbed Josette from the other side of the carriage, tossing her over his shoulder and holding her there as he glared at Cecil, "What the hell is wrong with you?"

"Keep your fucking voices down!" Cecil said, "I'm not doing anything to her—she's in heat, Kane."

Kane knew that which was one reason he raced back to the caravan, "What? So you were just going to fuck her in your carriage and make little pups?"

Cecil laughed, "You look like a fool right now. I'm keeping her safe because you ran off."

Kane eyed his friend who didn't flinch. Maribel didn't even know what to believe.

"This is making me dizzy," Josette gagged as her head lay against Kane's back and upside down.

"Don't you or anyone else in this fucking den even think about touching her, does everyone hear me?" Kane said, as he walked back to this carriage.

Ned watched Maribel pout as she stomped off, but he gave credit to the girl for having some balls.

"What the hell was that all about? You aren't you, Cecil," Ned told him, "This battle between you and Kane has to end. Taking each other's women—trying to one-up the other. Let Josette come to you if she wants to. You've been watching her—I know you have. She didn't even realize it, did she? For weeks in the Castle Lands? She was the one you were keeping tabs on as your potential mate. She likes Kane, right—or am I wrong here?"

Cecil chuckled, "Kane's already shown us what he wants, Ned. If he wants to keep Josette, he'll have to fight for her."
