Josette's Allies

"Is she going to come through for us?" Josette asked as they made their way back to Kane's cottage

Kane wrapped Josette in his arms and sighed, "I don't know. To be honest, Daisy has never been close to her parents, nor has Darcy."

Josette gazed into Kane's eyes and caressed his face,"I know you're hurting and I am so very sorry that you lost your parents like that. "

"What did I do to get you to love me?" Kane said, his voice cracking,"I want you as my wife, my partner in life for all eternity, mother of my pups... "

"I want that, too. I want that more than anything, my love. We have to get through the next trial and you know it. We have to pretend for the next few days, though. Cyril cannot know we aren't with him.. he's got to believe we are allies willing to do his bidding. "

Josette led Kane to his bed and they both settled in.

" At least we know they aren't starting something just yet, " Kane offered,"They need my pack for their little wargames. "

Josette smiled,"Tonight when we go to dinner, we'll make sure Cyril knows we mean business. "

"How?"

"Dark arts, of course, " Josette winked and Kane nodded in understanding,"We can pull it off."

"Just let him catch us?" Kane smiled, "Perfect."

So that's what they did and Cyril seemed to be in awe of his newfound alliances.

"Don't worry, Cyril," Josette said, "Once we make it outta here, we're going to rule the damn kingdom!"

Kane made it his job to gather as many of his men as necessary. They were on board, even though they'd all just gotten home from the war, they were deeply invested in taking down the evildoers once again.

"And I will kill Maribel, little dove," he promo as Josette fell fast asleep in his arms that night, "I will kill her slowly, painfully, deliberately and enjoy every fucking minute of it."

Josette woke up before sunrise and a while before Kane. She headed out quietly, taking some essentials with her for the little game she was going to play on Cyril.

She had to look convincing, act convincing, be very convincing.

Finding an open spot on the outskirts of the village, she had deliberately made her way passed Ned's cottage so Cyril could see her.

She began setting up her little altar, her candles, oils, amulets, anything she needed to help her look as if she was practicing the dark arts.

Feeling eyes upon her, Josette moved quickly. Once she set things up, she began chanting some gibberish, making sure people could hear her if they came by.

Sure enough, she felt Cyril move closer. He was interested in the little witch, interested in what she was up to.

He made mental notes about what she was doing, happy as hell that he had an ally like his old friend.

Now was the time to get back to the cottage and gather his owh troops.

Once the coast was clear, Josette began packing up. She was proud of herself for being so convincing. Humming along, she was just about to head back to Kane's cottage when something stopped her in her tracks.

"Who goes there?" She called into the void of the forest, "Show yourself!"

She could hear movement, it was more than one being she knew that. She hurriedly made her way to the village entrance, but not before someone grabbed her from behind.

Dropping her things, Josette tried to scream, but someone placed a hand over her mouth.

She kicked and fought as they held her close their body until a familiar voice whispered in her ear.

"What the hell are you doing out here, little dove?"

She stopped moving and sighed in relief as Kane put her down, turning her to face him.

"Don't leave me like that. I can't lose you and I fucking looked everywhere," Kane told her, holding her face in his hands,"Cyril told me where to find you."

"You scared the hell out of me," Josette clutched her chest as her heart rate slowed to normal.

"I'm sorry. I can't lose you again, baby, you know that."

Kane mentioned that Cyril was getting ready to head out the next night which was fine with them.

"The sooner we end this, the better," Josette said,"Hopefully, Daisy makes it back by then. "

As luck would have it, she did.

"Devonia said that she would talk to Alpha Kurt about my parents and she wanted me to give you this amulet, " Daisy presented Josette with a tiger's eye gem,"She's blessed it and told me that your powers won't be as strong, but it'll work for the time being. We have to head out as soon as Cyril wants to go. Devonia and Kurt are sending reinforcements in every direction leading to the Castle Lands. She's upset about what happened to you and knows that even though you broke the rules, she loves you and wants you back. "

Josette was sobbing by the time Daisy was finished as Kane held her close.

"There's one more thing I think you should know, though, " Daisy scowled, her anger evident in her face.

"What? What is it?" Kane asked as he studied his cousin's face.

Daisy looked at Josette with sympathy, but she knew the little witch would get her justice.
